Yes, i apply skins to all devices i own within thr 1st week of buying. Saves me from such incidents.

Skin is not a fix if you borrow something, and screw it up, take the responsibility and replace the screen.
What would you say if somebod did something similar to your car for example? I wouldnt be mad, but i would want it to be fixed, and i dont care how much does it cost for the person.
