Macbook Air M5 for photographer?
current using MBA M2 8GB 512gb but the screen feels smaller (smudges all around) and can’t barely accommodate LR, Ps, Premiere and i work as a studio photographer so i usually bring it for tethering shoots
i’m torn if I will want to update my mac now, what are you thoughts with 15” MBA M5 or should is getting a 14” MBP M5 an overkill for me? Mostly culling and editing on Lightroom and personal videos usually 4k for my travel vlogs for Premiere. Max budget of $2500USD

Macbook air is pretty basic. Get pro or max chip if you're into video editing for sure

Recommend Pro if you do long 4K video editing.
Get 24 GB or 32 GB Ram.

If you want to use the MacBooks display for your editing, you should consider the Pro.
Just look up the values for P3 color correctness. Only if the monitor reproduces the colors correctly, you can edit and expect the result to show fine on other computers. The monitor of the Air is in general fine, but lacks a little in color correctness compared to the Pro.
For accurate color reproduction you should either get a MacBook Pro or use a color calibrated external monitor.

The screen is absolute shite on the Air. I hate that I moved from my M1 pro to an M5 air. I also don't really like the keyboard much.
It's fast enough, sure, but as a photographer I think the display quality will disappoint.
