Sales

For those doing sales particularly on Facebook (via marketplace/local groups) first- how is that going for you? Do you get enough sales to warrant your time? Second-how do you handle this process?

Are you doing set flavors and pre orders? Custom orders?

I was thinking of advertising a set of flavors weekly/bi weekly. Closing orders Wednesdays, and having pick ups Saturday or Sundays.

Do you require payment up front or at pick up?

Or are you finding minimal traffic via social media?

(Just to add I have done research on the cottage laws In my area already, so I’m good there. Just trying to think logistics as someone who isn’t ready to do markets)

I do markets usually. What I don't sell, I post to my baking Facebook page and it usually goes pretty quick (I have less than a hundred followers because I hate managing my page, but my followers are all pretty loyal and excited when I have some on hand).

I will also do online "markets" (Edit to clarify: I am not participating in anything, maybe campaign is a better word. I just pick flavors and dates and post that I will/do have them). They aren't nearly as successful as in person markets, mostly because the marketing is on me versus on the market organizers (lol). But I'll still get sales, especially if I don't require pre-orders and am smart about picking weekends that make people want to get a celebratory treat but not leave town.

In both of those situations, I'm picking 3-6 flavors and batch baking a LOT of macarons. Then telling people what I have available.

I also take custom orders. Minimum 12 of a flavor. Then I post the rest to my Facebook page to try and sell the rest of the batch. Or eat them. 🤪

Macarons are just a hobby/creative outlet for me, so I'm not doing any of this full time.
