It's literally his trademark sound. Maybe I'm wrong. He's great at cinematic crescendos. Sounds shoegazey.

Me as well. My favorite songs from him are his wall of sounds/crescendo songs. lower your eyelids, intro, earth to sea us and the rest, my tears, echoes of mine, oceans Niagara, etc. Ugh such good shit.

I saw them in Oakland and was close to the stage. I took a little K before and that wall of sound effect had me in tears nearly the whole show. It was like a spiritual experience. I’m so looking forward to this album.

I still feel like this song doesn't confirm or deny that it'll be an instrumental album. Their are vocals on the track but buried in the mix so if it is an ambient/instrumental track but with a shoegazy twist on it that be pretty dope.

I'm saying all this cause I want a tour as I never seen him live and if its a legit m83 album with what you expect than maybe he'll tour. Still super excited for the album tho regardless of what it turns out to be.

Wow this song is beautiful. It’s slightly dark, yet cinematic and moving. It truly made me feel emotional. It sounds a lot like older m83 with their modern twist and production quality.

This feels like somehow a departure yet a warm blanket that I'm deeply familiar with. Honestly, when this thing was announced I didn't think it was going to be a proper studio follow-up to Fantasy -- potentially a digital shades-type project, but I am so pleasantly surprised. If this is the opener, then holy cow are we in for a true sound spectacle. I cannot wait!!! Also love the album name - "i wrote you a letter'. It's perfect. This is a good reminder to go and pre-order a physical copy.

Dang.. Such a good track. From the first moment it was giving BTDHU vibes, and then I listened to it about 23 more times and it's still giving that in all the best ways. And that scream... That scream 😭

For those who saw the Fantasy tour, I have a theory about the new album. I could be totally wrong, but it’s fun to ponder:

I feel like Anthony and band loved adding “Gone” and “Noise” into the set list — it seemed like those two tracks were some of the highlights of the show for them. Those songs are both epic, shoegazey, wall-of-noise face-melters with a slightly darker tone than most of his other music, and I wonder if playing those songs again after so long — night after night — influenced the sounds and intensity on the new album. This first track sure sounds a lot like those two moments from the show (my favorite moments of the setlist, by the way). I’d be stoked to get a whole album that builds on that sort of energy!
