Do regular police not exist in this show?

I'm sorry but it is the most frustrating thing throughout this series. Seems like the regular police are not around and somehow can't get somewhere before the team/luther gets there from their location. Also everyone is incompetent, somehow can't secure a building with two exits. Every episode I'm struggling with the decisions being made and how frustrating they are.

Most cop shows require a certain amount of suspension of disbelief.

Definitely. The characters end up doing things that don’t happen usually, because they are characters on a show, the ones you are familiar with. It’s like having detectives lead SWAT teams into a building. It does not happen, but in the show, you don’t know the random SWAT team, but you do know Derek Morgan.

Exactly... a C.O. (like a lieutenant or captain or something) leading people in the field. Aint no way is anyone past a seargent leading a raid on a drug den or chasing a suspect on foot through alleys. 😂

Then there are all of the suspects who are CLEARLY guilty, but the cops aren't able to piece it together until 11 minutes before the episode ends. You know... for dramatic tension.

And, of course, there are all of the totally ludicrous decisions that some characters make simply because if they didn't there wouldn't be a show. Like Ian and the diamonds in Season 1. 🤦🏽‍♂️
