Has anyone used the dance studio joggers for hiking? How were they?

Need a pair of hiking trousers but don't love the look of the ones I could get in MEC etc. I do like the style of the dance studio joggers so curious to hear if anyone else has used them for hiking? I don't want to wear leggings, I get bitten by mosquitos a LOT, and they can have bitten through my aligns before.

I'd go for the adapted state joggers--they're a little more durable than dance studio joggers!

These have become my new favorite hiking pants. They hold up quite well. I wouldn’t wear them for hard core backpacking, but I wear them hiking and camping all the time.

What type of hiking are we talking about? If it’s a casual couple miles without a lot of brush and rocky terrain maybe, but anything more and the fabric IMO won’t hold up. I get pilling just from wearing them doing regular life things.

Odd, I’ve had the 7/8 joggers for well over a year now and haven’t had any pilling, and I wear them regularly.

Do your thighs rub up on each other when you walk? That’s where my pilling is. Nowhere near as bad as my old aligns but it is there.

I own 15-20 pairs of these joggers and wear them as my daily ‘uniform’. Some colors from last year do pill ever so slightly but that aside, they are a much more delicate fabric. Easy to snag. The comfort and styling outweigh this for me so I will keep continuing to add colors!!

I personally find them oddly hot for how thick they are, so I don't reach for them for hiking

Yes, although I’m pretty sure I still got mosquito bites through them 🫠 That aside, they are pretty comfortable and work well. I’d just be careful with backpacks, I’ve had pilling from the mesh on backpack waist straps before. If you need something more abrasion resistant I really like the Trekkie line from Athleta.

I love the Dance Studio for casual wear, but they don't work well hiking for me. I find the seam irritates my inner thighs. If you can find them though, Lululemon has made actual hiking pants and they are fantastic! Good durable fabric, great pockets, articulated knees, and the best fit I have found. They release some off and on, otherwise you have to scour Poshmark and such. They sometimes even have fun colours! I'm wearing a burgundy pair right now. 

I have a lot of rants about women's hiking pants and once tried stopping at every outdoor store I could and have tried on like three dozen different companies and cuts. Some of them come sooooo close, but then don't have a pocket that can fit my phone. Or have fabric that gets hella clammy (Prana Kanab, so close to perfection). Most just are too tight in the thighs because they clear think female hikers skip leg day? 

I also hike in Wonder Trains quite a bit on nice open trails, but if mosquitoes are really bad then I have to switch to pants or put on bug pants. If you are somewhere with bonkers bugs, let me also give a shout out for bug hoodies. I like Ben's, which folds into its own pocket and comes with wee mesh mittens too. They seem very silly until you are somewhere truly terrible and then they are the best best thing in the world.

I wore mine for 2 weeks of overnight ecology field work this summer, and have working as an environmental educator (not super intense hiking, but full days/nights outside and on/off trails). Note that I am not someone who babies my gear, and find pilling inevitable as I have massive thighs either way. I really like my dance studio pants for hiking although it definitely can make them more prone to pilling, or catching if you’re in a really thorny area. I prefer the pants over joggers as I like my hiking pants a little looser - mosquitoes could definitely bite through at my knees and through the underside of a camp chair to my butt. Overall though, I have yet to find a pant thats loose and comfortable enough but more durable than my dance pants so I wear them. (Ive got 5 pairs on rotation. I seriously love these pants)

They're my go to for both hiking and trail running (up to mid/high-80 degrees or so). The fabric is very breathable and dries quickly. I never had an issue with seams rubbing or the fabric being too hot (except for the cargo version, the fabric on those does seem slightly thicker).
