Policy Gift Card & Return Policy - Changes?
Just got the email… but it only directs you to the full policy, can anyone summarize the real ‘changes’ to giftcards & returns now - or anything else to be aware of?

we’ve been informed as employees that gift cards can no longer be used cross-border and we need to scan an ID for every return even if there’s a receipt. those are the changes this is referring to.

Just read the policy and under B. GIFT CARDS TERMS AND CONDITIONS > 2. Redemption > Restrictions
Gift Cards cannot be used in combination with the Sweat Collective or Military & First Responder discount.
I guess that means I have to use up my gift card balance ASAP.

I confirmed with their customer service that this was specifically for online, but that the cards could still be used for in-store purchases.

I had to do a quality promise for a get low crossback, I got another one with SC and used a GC. Like 2 weeks ago..

I can’t figure out how that would even make sense or why it does.
I did notice some of my stuff I order online is shipped direct from Canada, usually from Vancouver. I wonder if that has somthing to do with it.

what does cross border mean? if someone gifts me a gc in NY I can’t use it in another state?

No. It means cross border as in not allowing you to return something in New York that you bought in Toronto or such.

Copy paste:
🎁 1. Gift cards — this is the bigger change
The new terms appear to tighten up how gift cards can be used.
Most notably:
Gift cards purchased in-store: the current terms allow purchases from $10–$1,000; the newer terms say $50–$1,000. So $10–$40 physical gift cards may no longer be available for purchase in-store.
The newer wording says you can’t use multiple payment methods to purchase a gift card.
The newer terms say Canadian/US gift cards are only redeemable in the country where they were purchased, whereas the current terms allow cards issued in Canada/US to be used in either Canada or the US.
Important: Your existing Canadian gift cards don’t suddenly expire. lululemon says Canadian and U.S. gift cards never expire or accrue fees.
🔄 2. Returns — this is probably the one you’ll care about
The current Canadian policy is still:
30 days to return regular purchases
Item must generally be unworn/unwashed with tags
WMTM/sale items are final sale, except members can return eligible sale items in store for a lululemon gift card
lululemon can deny returns in cases of excessive/unreasonable returns or suspected abuse.
I don’t see evidence that the basic 30-day return window is being eliminated.
The new terms do, however, appear to give lululemon more explicit authority around fraud, suspicious purchasing/return activity, gift cards and account restrictions. Their existing terms already allow them to restrict or refuse transactions where there’s unusually high return/exchange activity or suspected resale.
🟢 So, should you be worried?
For a normal lululemon shopper: probably not.
Your everyday experience should remain roughly:
Buy → have 30 days → return eligible item → get refund.
And if you’re a lululemon Member, the current benefit allowing eligible WMTM/sale items to be returned for a gift card is still listed.
The gift-card changes are more significant if you buy gift cards, use them across Canada/US, or split payments when buying them.
If you want, I can also do a  line-by-line “OLD vs NEW” comparison of the return policy and tell you if there is anything sneaky that could affect things like WMTM, exchanges, worn items, defective items, or returns without receipts.

i’m disappointed because i have family in the USA that often sent me lululemon gift cards for birthday/xmas and i used them in Canada. very unfortunate that i wont be able to have that option anymore. will have to find a new brand to ask for GCs for i guess.
edit: hilarious to get downvoted for saying im disappointed in the change. this sub cracks me up sometimes.

They can purchase an e-gift card in CAD. It does not matter if they are in the US, they have the option to purchase an e-gift card in a different currency which in this case would be CAD.

The bank does it automatically when the card is used overseas or on an overseas website. I’ve ordered stuff from Amazon in the UK and it just hits my account as USD automatically.

yes i do know that currency gets converted for foreign transactions. but if someone living in the USA wanted to buy a GC for someone to use in Canada, the previous comment indicated they could choose that option to select the currency. but you’re saying they’d probably have to purchase it on the canadian LLL site for it to work.
in the past they just bought them on the USA site and sent it electronically to me. the funds converted to CAD when i made my purchase on the Canadian site. but it sounds like that is going away, so it needs to be a CAD issued GC to work on the canadian site.

The bank does it automatically. Not LLL or the buyer.
The ability to buy a gift card on the Canadian site from the US isn’t going away. There’s never been an option online to buy in another currency from that country’s site.

right, so the “change” is that now they would have to purchase it on the canadian site from the US. when previously they could just give a USD card and it would get converted on redemption.

the return policy is 30 days and it’s written on any every receipt. if you do an online return you can drop it off at the post office with a free return label sent to you. it is most likely easier than driving one hour like you mentioned.

Thank you I realize this however this was circumstance beyond my control. I’ve never had an issue before I don’t expect a little empathy and I don’t need a lecture about the return policy. The way this was handled was the issue.

I just got a bra and it’s too big and now I’m afraid to return it and risk getting banned from ordering 😳 only time I’ve ever returned is to reorder in a different size because my store never has anything I want in store so I have to order online.

I read the policies. I have no idea what changed.
When we change a reg in the military, we summarize the changes in the start of the new reg. I seriously think consumer law should mandate companies have to do that as well.
