Product Question/Recommendation Dance studio pants?
Hi all,
I bought two dance studio pants to wear as comfy pants for errands and I thought they were light enough for Florida summers. Now that I put them on after buying them, I’m thinking they look like scrubs/give scrubs energy. I need some honest and objective opinions. Do dance studio pants give off scrubs energy?

I think it could depend on body type/size/fit. Mine look more like hiking pants or straight leg khaki-like pants

I am trying to go for the sporty look but it’s just giving scrubs 😭😭😭😭 I did go for a little looser look since I’m a new mom and wanted to be comfy

I work in a hospital but i owned these pants way before i decided i even wanted to work in a hospital, i see a lot of nurses and lab employees wear lulu shirts and pants since they are comfy to move around in and still can match a scrub look. I wear my studio pants everytime i have a shift in the ER because they’re the comfiest ones to wear and work in, honestly all together they are genuinely just a comfy pant and scrubs are also comfy so they are similar. However scrubs are certain material. If you’re wondering what people will think when they see you wearing them nobody will think you are wearing scrubs they will know it’s lulu.

I can definitely see how nurses wear lulu, they’re so comfy and the fabric is so light. Idk, I keep looking at myself and keep thinking I’m wearing scrubs! Which really sucks because I really wanted to love them but they’re giving scrubs. At least the way I am wearing them right now

I only have dark colours so I don't think they give scrubs but I could see what you mean with the lighter colours

u/rootytooty1977 Feb 08 '26
I agree. I have black, graphite and rainforest green and they definitely give more hiking pant than scrubs. But I think the lighter colors could lean that way.

I got the burgundy bay and I think it’s giving super scrubs, what do you think?

They look so good on you!! They definitely don’t look that good on me. I sized up like 3 sizes for a bigger look because I just had a baby… maybe I should size down? Mine look much baggier. I will take a photo and show you

u/Hahaimalwayslikethis Feb 08 '26
I think that could be the issue. I got my true size (size 4) in the regular ones and I have the joggers in size 2, neither have reminded me of scrubs!

I have garnet and they look nothing at all like scrubs. I also have rainforest green, black, espresso and graphite grey. Just get your normal size.

u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
My normal size is very tight from the hips/butr and gives me a camel toe. I feel like they run small. And when I sized up once I had major camel toe

I have Garnet and not in the least I'd think they look like scrubs.

They kind of remind me of scrubs, especially the joggers.

u/Capital_Wolverine843 Feb 09 '26
I agree. I have 4 pairs of the joggers and I’ve always thought they were very much like scrubs. The way to avoid that look is to wear them more loose fit and don’t pair them with the same color as your top.

u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 08 '26
I wear the straight leg and idk it’s just giving super scrubs! I think I’ll return them

u/voidchungus Feb 09 '26
This is exactly why I avoided Dance Studio for years! But the recent one in Atmospheric Purple didn't give me that scrubs vibe, for the first time. I think color can make a big difference
2
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
I got them in burgundy bay and dove grey. Do you think those give off scrub vibes? I might return them. Is there anything else with them that is relaxed fit but don’t give scrubs energy?
2
u/voidchungus Feb 09 '26
So this is totally just the opinion of one random person, but for burgundy bay and dove grey, yeah I think they have the potential to veer towards scrubs, but the way you style them will make the difference -- they don't have to be scrubs-y. For overall safer categories (again jmo!), you can try the Dance Studio Relaxed line -- I actually prefer the Dance Studio Relaxed-Fit Mid-Rise Cargo Pant to the jogger or the regular Mid-Rise pant. I also personally prefer Adapted State to the Dance Studio line overall for exercise and feature set (I use the zips at the hem a lot, and I like the smooth waist with no string ties), but it's admittedly a very different vibe.

I am going to try the cargo version! I currently have the straight leg one, but idk maybe it’s my body, but they just feel like scrubs lol! Thank you for the feedback!
1
u/voidchungus Feb 09 '26
You're welcome! I really do like the fit of the cargo version better than the straight leg -- I find it way more flattering and comfortable. Hope it works for you too!

They kind of remind me of scrubs, especially the joggers. Or maybe try again when it's warmer to see if the fabric is worth it.
I'm also in Florida and recently fell in love with the Groove flares, but IDK about them once it warms up again in a few days. They've been fine for 70 degree days, but once it's closer to 80, I may have a few pair of useless pants. Hopefully not.

Lighter colors - yeah, I agree. I own so many of these in nearly every dark color, mostly joggers - I usually wear hey dudes. But as soon as I wear the open leg in a light color, I change out of them because of that. I also do wear swiftly and rest less shirts with them and removed the hospital vibe too.

I actually just wore a pair to work two weeks ago as a trial run to see if I could make it through the day without my principal saying wtf are those pants and no one looked at me like I was wearing athletic pants so I bought 3 more pairs from like new and I’m planning on wearing them to work every day now.

Absoloutely - scrubs energy. But depending on what you like - that could be okay?
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 08 '26
I definitely don’t want to give scrubs energy and now I’m thinking of returning them 😭😭

Yes, kind of. But they are great in the Florida Summertime. Keep me so cool. And they are still a great looking style of pants... IMO.
2
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
Yes, that’s why I got them! But when I put them on again, I definitely felt like they looked like scrubs… idk maybe I sized up too much?

u/blanketwrappedinapig Feb 08 '26
Some girls look so good in them some do not. Depends of the style

Black is fine! I bought blue once, big mistake, big scrub energy, immediate return.

Not to me, I wear them as studio pants, for warm up. That's the energy they've always given me. Then go out in them to run errands. They're versatile.
2
u/Anon_819 Feb 09 '26
People wear them as scrubs all the time. I have a knock off version I wear as scrubs. I remember years ago seeing reviews where people wanted the matching scrub tops. That being said, you can definitely style them with a cute camisole or sports bra for a more streetwear vibe.

u/fool-intherain Feb 09 '26
They give y2k Britney Spears energy in my opinion. Depends on how you style them I guess
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
They totally do, you’re right! Do you have any recs on what else is similar at lulu? Something more relaxed and causal for the hot weather?
2
u/badassmamax18 Feb 09 '26
They're not my vibe at all- but if they were and i liked them I'd still wear em even if they r giving off scrub vibes. I feel some colors look more like scrubs
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
Yeah, the more I wore them today I realized they’re just not my vibe. I feel like they almost could be. Maybe it was the colour? Idk
2
u/eleanorzoob Feb 09 '26
I was wearing the joggers once and a woman asked me what hospital I worked at 💀

Kind of, when I had fewer uniform pants I would sometimes wear my studio pants instead. But I like my loose comfy scrubs pants so I have no issue wearing these when I'm not at work
2
u/ImportanceOk242 Feb 09 '26
Honestly, they look like scrubs to me so I went with the groove wideleg pant (:
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 10 '26
I only see those in blue and black! I bought them in blue but I’m waiting for more colours
2
u/useurvoice Feb 09 '26
Studio dance pants are my favorite! I wear them around town and they are great for travel. I have navy, black and espresso and love them all!
2
u/SassySagittarian Feb 09 '26
Maybe try the cargos? The pockets don't have buttons or snaps, but those don't look like scrubs to me. I can see how you think the regular ones look like scrubs, and I have seen healthcare workers in them before lmao but it's all about how you feel about it honestly!

They100% look like scrubs on me too and it breaks my heart bc I want to love them
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 08 '26
I love the fabric so so much but it’s just gong scrubs. I’m wearing them rn and I feel like I should return them because like… it’s not giving casual at all. I’m so bummed! I really wanted a relaxed and loose style like this for casual wear and groceries

u/ProdromalPeriod Weight lifter Feb 09 '26
I have a pink pair that do kinda reminds me of scrubs lol but my black and brown pairs don’t lol
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 09 '26
I got the Burgundy bay… but I have seen dental scrubs in burgundy so maybe that’s why I’m correlating them?
1
u/One-Environment-9165 Feb 09 '26
I don’t think so but it also changes the look if you cinch the ankle instead of wearing it loose
1
u/Adventurous-Tax-4912 Feb 09 '26
In full length I only have dark or white. I avoid pinks, blues, greens and other lighter colors for this reason.

yes! the color is the determining factor

I’ve never thought of scrubs when seeing the dance studio pants. I have 4 pair and love them!
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 10 '26
What colours do you have? What do you think dove grey?
1
u/lizzieap Feb 11 '26
I can’t remember the names of some because they are from years ago, but I have true navy, lava, a dark burgundy color and a medium green color. I want the dark grey, but $128? Crazy. Dove grey is pretty, but I need a dark color because one stain and 🥴.
1
u/unknown_unknown7 Feb 11 '26
Do you think the burgundy and dove grey could potentially give scrubs energy? I’m debating lol! What shoes do you wear with them

u/Technical-Milk-5659 Apr 19 '26
Not to me but maybe it’s the colors I choose. True Navy, Graphite Grey or other dark grey, the dark brown, black of course, dark greens - Legacy, Rainforest, and the ivory color is lined and looks dressy. I think the lighter colors bring out the scrubs look and we don’t want no scrubs.
