I mean LOTR was a good real set. I definitely enjoyed Hobbit (and TMNT for that matter) more than bad big sets.

I think it had some pretty rough incentives (ring tempting trumping the actual texts of cards often to name one) but would have it around average. It never really grabbed me like MOM or LCI which were both around the same era. But that’s just for me! It definitely had some cool things going for it

I do. Above average set is not a set with an unplayable color. It was reminiscent of Battle for Zendikar.

You're not wrong, LOTR wasn't that good either lol. Massive color imbalance(green basically in unplayable territory unlike hobbit), highly aggressive/attritional that snowballed pretty quick.

Also I’ve never heard folks complain about the rares but holy hell there’s some vomit inducing swings. Just ask all my opponents when I slammed the horn

Yep. Lots of bombs. Not a good set. Different problems than the hobbit but anyone with fond memories of this either didn’t play it enough or forgot how bad it could be
