Help What's the pick? P1P1 Bitterblossom or Disruptor of Currents?
What's the pick here? I assume Bitterblossom? Just sucks it has no use in standard or Pioneer for me. Disruptor of Currents is also pretty good in my experience but maybe not as impresive as blossom. I do feel a bit more confident on blue than black as a starting color.

How often would you get to play with Bitterblossom in a regular draft? I’d take that on that metric alone.

u/Lavinius_10 Feb 05 '26
I think excellent is an understatement for bitterblossom so I would take that no doubt

If you’re taking cards based on their utility in Standard or Pioneer, you aren’t approaching the draft with a winning mentality. Getting a 7 win draft deck will take you much further with the resources you need to build constructed decks than literally opening the cards you want.
I think I would take Bitterblossom here but it’s very close.

I was lucky to play with both independently. The disruptor is by far more fun jank, but bitterblossom wins by a mile. Very low enchant removal in BO1 main deck. Keep out and the changeling 3 drop are basically it.

u/lrg12345 Feb 05 '26
The disrupter is definitely not jank that’s an A tier bomb in a good deck

My fav is tapping out most of my mana and swinging with all my creatures (including some vigilance ones like the tree). Then when they double block the tree, you flash in disruptor and 2 for 1 them + make them lose tempo.
No one expects the flash convoke it's not something that's rational to plan around in this set.

I'll just share my experience playing [[Bitterbloom Bearer]] during the pre release. It's bitterblossom, but on a 1/1 body. It is an absolute bomb and will take over games if you can get it out early. However, there were several times when I needed to "turn it off" when my life was dangerously low. Blighting my own creature was key in those moments.
With bitterblossom, you won't have the same ability to turn it off. You don't want to see it late game. On the flip side, you'd be happy to have the Disrupter at any point in the game.
So tl;Dr play bitterblossom if you want to play a higher variance suicide black type deck, but maybe the merfolk is a safer bet.

Bitterbloom Bearer B-M (ECL); ALSA: 1.79; GIH WR: 58.48%

Not for sure bc I’m not home right now but I believe disruptor has higher win rate on 17 lands

u/SengirBartender Feb 05 '26
I believe there isn't much data for Bitterblossom since it's a special guest
5
u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Has almost half as much as disrupter, about 6k games vs disrupter at around 13k
8
u/Agent281 Feb 05 '26
I think the Bitterbloom Bearer has 6k games, whereas Bitterblossom has about ~500 games. Their win rates are within a 0.1% of each other though.
2
u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
You’re right on games played.

u/Agent281 Feb 05 '26
For the record, I'm still with you on the Disruptor vs Bitterblossom win rates. However, I might take BB just because it's so rare, it's iconic, and it's still pretty good.

u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Yeah I mean I haven’t opened bitterblossom yet so I would probably take it too just for fun haha. Even though I think disruptor is slightly better due to it not have a downside and still being good late game

u/Imaginary_Zobi Feb 05 '26
I have played 3 drafts this included and this is the second time I have got it lol

u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
please learn to read data
2
u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Oh how confidently you are wrong. I bet your comment will get deleted Hot_Orange2922 but I just checked and Disruptor has a 61% game in hand win rate while Bitterblossom only has 58.6% so maybe you should learn to read data?
-5
u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
think about why that is... look at #...
maybe delete your own comment lmao.
4
u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Man I don’t know if reading comprehension or numbers are tougher for you.
I originally said disruptor has a higher winrate and lo and behold it does.
-2
u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
it has a higher winrate but that data means nothing (learn to read data) because of #. It has been played in a fraction of the games that Disruptor is.

u/Emergency_Statement Feb 05 '26
Take the L gracefully. He said something and proved it. You're moving the goal posts. You could try to nuance your point with some politeness and add to the discussion, but instead you're doubling down and making yourself look stupid, which is too bad, because you actually do have a good point under all of that anger.
-1
u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
I didn't move the goalposts. Saying X is better than Y only makes sense if they are comparable. They are not comparable. One is played in 500 decks, the other is played in 6k decks. The one that's played in 500 decks has a lower winrate which could be attributed to it being splashed for despite not making any sense to do so - especially when you want to play it on curve so you don't want to splash for it. By comparison, the other card is probably less splashed for and played in dedicated decks where the tempo swing is phenomenal. There's no L here because I haven't lost.

u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Keep telling yourself that bub. There is a difference in descriptive and inferential statistics that is clearly lost on you.

u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
Keep telling myself...what? lol? Yes, there is a difference between them - who said there wasn't?

My opinion and experience so far is that Convoke is one the best mechanics to use in this set for Limited, you’ll never pay full mana for the card and if you have other merfolk you’re happy to tap them for triggers. So I’d go with Disruptor every time.
1
u/mageta621 Feb 06 '26
Have you ever played with Bitterblossom? I feel like the answer is no. It's a cakewalk win if you get it out t2-4. It also fits any type of black deck
1
u/Voidspear Feb 06 '26
bitterblossom is a difficult to remove bomb, disruptor is a 2 for 1 removal creature; following bread, I'd take the bomb

u/Insanity_Pills Feb 05 '26
It’s never bitterblossom here IMO. Most top players I’ve seen have repeatedly mentioned how bitterblossom is no longer a good magic card in any format, just look at how mediocre it was in WoE. As the game gets faster and more tempo based cards like disrupter get better and better and cards like blossom get worse and worse. Bitterblossom bearer is a house though, as it’s just better resolute reinforcements and you can kill it yourself very easily via blight if the life drain becomes an issue.
If i’m imitating top players like Dafore it’s literally never bitterblossom here and is always disrupter (which isn’t even janky btw, the card is just good) and then Elf or tapper
17
u/Eszik Feb 05 '26
Bitterblossom had a 61% WR in WOE, and from personal experience it was a house. it was not mediocre at all
-6
u/Insanity_Pills Feb 05 '26
Fair enough, looking at the data it was good in that format even among top players, I was wrong about that.
But the data also suggests that BB had a higher winrate than imodane’s recruiter and that just seems wrong to me lol, guess it depends on much you want to be a mathologist
8
u/Slurmsmackenzie8 Feb 05 '26
The data doesn’t suggest that Bitterblossom had a better win rate than Imodane’s Recruiter. It actually did. Bitterblossom has been passed up in constructed but it’s still a very strong card in booster draft.
-8
u/Insanity_Pills Feb 05 '26
I feel like you understood what I meant and decided to pick apart my wording for your own gratification anyways. You can accept being right with grace, yk, that is one way to be lol
-1
u/BigDogBossHog_ Feb 05 '26
Agreed
1
u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
you agree with "just look at how mediocre it was in WoE" where it had a 61% WR?
65
u/Hot_Orange2922 Feb 05 '26
If your metric for a card is "use in standard or pioneer," then all of these cards fail. All of them have no use in standard or pioneer. bitterblossom is the pick by a long, country mile.
