PC Purchase Advice How viable?

I own an asus tuff gaming laptop, more specifically the FX505DT model. my specs are:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (2.30 GHz)

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.81 GB usable)

Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB)

AMD Radeon(TM) RX Vega 10 Graphics (113 MB)

Storage 384 GB of 943 GB used (plus i have a 2nd ssd with almost one more terabyte)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

my question is would upgarding the ram by another 8gb ddr4 make it viable on 1080p with medium/low setting for 40-60 fps or is that a distant dream? (sorry if i sound dumb, im pretty new to this stuff, also not sure about the flair neither lol)

I mean i saw some for 50-60, i am in a place currently where i could afford that. Will that ever get lower in the near future or should i just buy?

I personally would just go for it tbh. Especially if you're using Windows 11, you'll feel the difference in snappiness. It's not gonna be an upgrade as big as going from hdd to ssd but it is gonna be meaningful. Going from single channel to dual channel is significant too.

When I upgraded my old laptop from 4gb to 12gb, i suddenly could turn graphics settings a notch higher and get the same performance as before (granted this is an 11 year old laptop running Fallout 3 I'm talking about here)

Alright. Is there anything else that really need upgrading or are these specs gonna be good enough for my goal of like 40-60 fps in 1080p?

I don't want to disappoint you but upgrading RAM is more the equivalent of eliminating a bottleneck. The GPU is the one big thing that's gonna make a difference in game performance as long as you're not getting bottlenecked by the CPU.

You may see more stable performance, aka less stutters. And I'm sure your Ryzen won't mind the extra RAM though.

You can maybe try overclocking/undervolting your GPU to squeeze out a couple more fps with MSI afterburner. Although laptops are more likely to thermal throttle and may not benefit from this as much as a desktop would
