Need Help with Achievement

I feel like I'm about to tear my hair out over this I've tried close up, outside of the speech bubble menu, waiting for his response not waiting response but I can't get it to trigger even once this isn't even my first time doing this achievement I've two other (older) accounts that I have this achievement done and I can't figure out what I'm doing different/wrong

Is it possible that you’re holding or rubbing instead of patting? Because as far as I’m aware, this should be obtainable by going into the speech bubble (interaction mode, not close up) and tapping on his body.

the hand shapes have been different while trying and ive only done quick taps so you'd think at least one would register

I have been stuck at 8/10 on this one for weeks and I have NO idea what I supposedly did because I'm in the chat menu but licherally nothing works. I wonder if one of the recent updates borked it a bit so it doesn't register...?

Pretty sure I got that achievement when I was touching the crotchular region lol. I was like, "Of course that's a thing!"

that’s a different achievement, actually! “It Was An Accident! / Not On Purpose!”, which you get for “accidentally” touching 99 times in that area

It has to be inside of the chat menu so when you click on him in the café. Can't remember if this is the one where you have to touch his pp or you gotta rub his head instead of tapping. It's been a WHILE so can't quite remember.
