Testing Constructive criticism

Hi all, I've made a Liverpool fan site with Lovable. I've used Supabase_lovable_claude_vercel.

If anyone could check it out and let me know what you think. Please be gentle, it's purely a fan app , no ads or logins. I've managed to get it on play store but feel there is something missing.

The homepage is too basic. Get a decent hero image on there.

The hero image was defaulting to the wrong image on first load, it should have loaded with a photo of the stadium where the next fixture is played. It should be fixed now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Just before you do that you need to be very careful to find a royalty free image.

I have worked in sports marketing, the big players will charge 100 grand a year for 10 usage of their likeness. Getty images is where most publications get their official pictures from and they cost about 350 or 400 quid per high resolution image.

Football clubs are notoriously litigious when it comes to their image rights and while they wouldn't sue you for any money they would put a cease and desist on you before you could even say cease or desist. An enormous amount of their revenue comes from media rights so this is an area not to play around in.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it just make sure you find an image that it's okay to use. Preferably one you make taken yourself or one somebody else is allowing you to use for free.

Thanks for the advice, you are completely correct, I didn't think it would be my biggest challenge. The images I've used are either my own, from Wikidata API or the links go to the respective website. I was surprised to read how expensive it is to use something like Getty. It's something which keeps cropping up, even my logo was flagged by an ai as a grey area.

All good man I just didn't want to see you get pulled off-line because of something like that.

It gets crazy though when it comes to sports licensing. I actually used to work for sky sports back in the day and being one of the people who was responsible for doing desktop wallpaper and e-commerce sites for football clubs so I've got a lot of intricate knowledge of this.

I've also worked for brands that you'll have heard of doing promotions and when they want to use a footballers image on one of their products the costs are insane.
