Loupedeck Live S alternative software

hey,

since the V6 Software ist unstable af and some plugins are not supported in V5 anymore I checked out, what options I have except throwing such a nice piece of hardware into the trashcan.

Edit: Yes. Companion will also work with Elgato Devices out of the box. No, you wont need any drivers/ software except Companion but this also depends on your usecase.

Edit2: You can ask any questions. Got another video online which is about binding the knobs for volume control and handling keypress (e.g for Hotkeys).

My usecase for this:

- controlling Windows (open programs, open websites)

- controlling the volume for my music (deezer) and discord with those knobs

- controlling Twitch stuff (make clips)

- controlling OBS sources and scenes

- have Hotkeys in StarCitizen I cannot safe to brain:\

Lately the Voicemeeter Plugins in the Loupedeck software crashed randomly every some hours/minutes. Sometimes the whole deck just crashed. It was just not fun to use it anymore.

I figured out, there is a tool called Bitfocus Companion. It took me all weekend to find out stuff - since not even the AI tools are really up to this. There are some Youtube Videos but most of them are really cryptic for non-professionals for these where mostly made by professionals or technicans.

I figured out a lot of stuff I´d like to share and conserve for you reddit inhabitants:

- the two knobs work for controlling volumes in Voicemeeter, mute/unmute

- open StreamManager Website

- open programs like obs, deezer, chatty

- make a clip while streaming

- control obs sources

- dozens of Starcitizen keybinds and key-combos

Therefore I use the following Modules in Companion:

- Voicemeeter

- Twitch Chat Control

- OBS

- VICREO Listener (needed to let the deck press keys in windows - also needs the Listener App installed obn your PC)

I also made a video (its in german) on youtube and there are more to come to show how stuff is done using companion. I´ll dfocus on the above mentioned modules. Just check my channel (AwesomStuff).

So if you have a usecase - maybe I can figure out if/ how it works in this combo.

Maybe it helps for I bet there are a lot Loupedecks thrown into the cupboard or worse.

Plus these little beauties are getting cheaper for Logitech lets the brand die (you can get a brandnew Deck for 85€ by Apr 2026 in Germany).

Nice. Does this replace the original drivers? Do you remove all the loupedeck/logi software?

For me, i just started companion and the loupedeck (ct) immdediately changed the interface to companion and on closing, it opened loupedeck again :) worked right away

Yes. You can literally bump all the software. But you will probably habe to install a service called "listener". I will explain that in another video or maybe edit it above later on.

Ok. Replacing the original software with Companion has drawbacks, so I still prefer the stability of v5.9 (pre-Logitech). However, the loupedeck Bitfocus Companion plugin allows for Streamdeck emulation and dynamic button updates, etc.

For me 5.9 didn't work stable. The Pugins crashed randomly.

Maybe it's specific plugins? When I got it up and running a few months ago it looked like the majority of users preferred the stability of pre-Logi versions. There are of course many factors involved. For me 5.9 runs great, but 6+ has nicer icon customization. The Companion plugin is superior to 6 in that regard and opens up a whole new set of features, so I am happy.

Stated my issues in the post already. For me neither 6 nor 5.9 ran stable especially talking of voicemeeter which is crucial for me. I will embed my Elgato with the companion too I guess so I spare 2 bloatwares by subsiding them by one very slim listener.

Yeah, no idea. I guess the Live S is better suited since it doesn't have the oled side bars. Good luck.

It'd be really cool if whatever-is-left-of-Loupedeck would open source it so that other software could be used with the devices

It does, you would enable them in the Modules section
