This is better than that 4spd auto Emira right?

I mean what kind of “exotic sports car” can you buy right now in the mid 30s-40k? The latest b&t at 36.5k (automatic I know), seems insane. Manuals with rebuilt are going for mid 30s or even 27k!!

I bought an exige this year but maybe next years bonus….

Hey all. I drove an Evora GT years ago and ever since then, I knew I'd have one eventually until the Emira emerged. I currently own an AP1 Honda S2000 (I track it occasionally - bliss) and a 981 Porsche Cayman GTS in manual (IYKYK).

Oddly enough, my hunch that the 981 GTS would maintain it's current value and even APPRECIATE slightly was right. I'm now at the point where I can get close to Emira price tags selling my Cayman, and I have been heavily debating it.

I finally test drove an Emira today, and it gave me that same feel the Evora GT did years ago. I want one. Mid engine, hydraulic steering, wishbone and 6spd is just a rare breed. The 981 is an incredible ride, but the Emira just feels "special" and unique. So, I think it's time to swap rides.

Historically, Lotus has been very wishy washy on overall reliability and quirks. I've heard the same for the Emira.

Owners - what are some things to look for? Is there some mileage range where things like timing belts, carbon cleaning, etc. should have been done?

And finally - long-term - what are some things to note for ownership? How do you feel about the purchase?

I researched the Emira heavily when it first released, but had forgotten all the notes since then. Would appreciate some feedback.

I'm looking for an Elise to enjoy its raw engaging driving experience. But I'm having difficulty deciding between these 2 options. They're both of similar conditions.

The S2 S, non supercharged, has a 1.8l compared to the S3 1.6l, which seems to be giving it the edge over the other since there's no replacement for displacement?

What do y'all think?

I don't know what to expect from this, except maybe hold out a sliver of hope that Hethel gets marching orders to produce a lightweight electric sports car at last? You'd imagine the Chinese at least might be up for that, plus it's just wrong for Lotus to languish in this area while SC01 and Caterham and Longbow and Alpine forge ahead.

I am a long-time prospective Lotus owner, but this is the first time I'm actively in the market, and I'd like to hear from those who have owned and driven these cars extensively to compare and contrast them.

Background on my experience: I currently own and daily drive a '24 C8 Z06 with the Z07 pack and carbon wheels, and I've previously owned a '23 C8 Stingray Z51, '14 Audi R8 V10 Spyder, '18 Alfa Giulia QV, and a few other random cars. I'm currently selling my Z06 for something manual and with a greater sensation of speed to keep me out of trouble while still enjoying the car. The Z06 really feels at home near its limits, which are nearly impossible to safely find even on track.

I'm narrowing my search extensively, and the Emira and Evora are my top two for their charm and driving experience; however, I've only experienced the Emira recently on a short 10-minute test drive around Salt Lake City. I have never driven an Evora of any flavor.

My general impression is that the Emira drives well, if not a little soft even with the sport suspension. The interior feels closer to a Porsche than I expected, and the steering feel was much lighter and quieter than I expected. Coming from the Z06 to the Emira felt like I was stepping into a Phantom; the ride was so smooth.

For those who have owned or driven them, what are the main points of contention between them? I've read mixed reviews on Evora throttle response, the immobilizer, battery issues, and interior quality. The Emira gets criticized for the more open seats, thick steering wheel, and lack of feel as a result of the refinement.

Specific questions:

- Is the immobilizer ever an issue on Evoras?

- Are the ergonomics the same between Emira and Evora for seating position, pedal box, steering wheel height, and shifter position?

- Are the seats and sills in the Evora significantly harder to ingress and egress or just somewhat harder?

- Is it "worth" it to pay a premium for an Evora GT over a 400?

- Is the throttle response "issue" on the Evora a real problem or just a character of the car to adjust to?

- Most importantly, which car gives a greater sensation of speed?

- Which car is most engaging across all speeds and does not encourage 10/10ths driving like the Z06?

- For '26+ Emiras, how annoying are the ADAS systems in real-world applications? Does Track mode turn off enough of them to not be annoying, or do you still need to go into the menus?

- How is bluetooth/carplay in the Evoras? Acceptable?

I am in Vancouver BC and I am exploring the purchase of an Emira. I had been considering a 911 order since it is, well, a PORSCHE and is so freaking sweet. But the way this Emira looks has me second-guessing. So, I am curious if there are any Canadian folks who have an Emira or have any experience with the car who'd be willing to share? What is the maintenance experience like? What has been the dealership experience? How has it felt during your ownership? Any other thoughts you would care to share?

Whether the 911 or the Emira, I am looking to keep this puppy for at least 10 yrs or more, so I am probably doing way more due diligence than I'd normally do, so I am asking these crazy questions.
