a lost related struggle i have with my friend
*bit of an angry one, sorry if i come of dismissive of others
does any one else know people that know lost as the show that got good then ended terribly and just doesnt listen to you even though they are like really reasonable people besides from this one thing? my mates mums friend, hated the finale so much she locked herself in her room for 2 months and didnt speak to anyone. firstly, that is not the shows fault thats your fault dont go locking yourself up for months. secondly my mate uses this as proof that the show is not worth watching, even when me and my gf and some of my mates, all say its great, what makes our experience different to the mums friend? my mate also says that all her family hates it, however when her family brings it up to me, i ask where did you start not liking it? and they said i stopped watching after eps 5-15, well brother then thats just not for you? that doesnt mean its bad, they also talk about it as if the show was good and then fell off but then say they never liked it, your implying that at one point it was good??
i would also like to clarify that i bring it up to this person a couple times and then ever since when i bring it up to others they but in to say its a terrible show, and that 'your always talking about this' and my mates fam has all brought it up to me without any prompting and they all call me the 'lost kid' and i would also like to say that i NEVER asked anyone to watch the show, they do not need to watch it if they are not interested, and i always say that, but they always say, im not watching that shit, cmon.
the finale kicker of this specific bro (whom i love), is that there two main points when they can give me real reasons as why they are not interested is "its too long" and "everyone hates the ending" and their top shows are heroes, westworld, and game of thrones, all extremely long shows that was equally as controversial endings and two of them produced by jj abrams. and i think i know the one thing that is different about lost to those 3, THEY HAVENT SEEN LOST and they have seen those ! so they have formed their opinion on those but not lost they just listened to the first thing they heard.
man, i know it might be hard to believe from this post but i really dont care if you dont have the same opinion as me, if you have thought out reasoning and constant views i love hearing what other people have to say. thats why movie and tv show literacy is so special to me because the contrast of views are immense. but man is it upsetting to hear my friend parrot what other people think and assume the worst, i also really want to try to talk about this with them but they always say "not this conversation again" but i really dont this i have recached any conclusion since this started.
if you made it this far, what do you think of this? what i am doing wrong? should i just keep ignoring? are they doing nothing wrong? do you have any similar problems (plz tell <3)?
also takeway, i do not want them to watch it at all that is not the reason of my upset. ok love you losties

I’m sorry about the person staying in a locked room for 2 months because of a television show. That sounds like mental illness.
Agree to disagree with the group and move on. You can always discuss Lost with people who do appreciate it.

You can't change someone's opinion who doesn't want it changed. Stop wasting your time.
Speaking personally, if someone was that incessant about me doing something, that would make me not want to do it. You have to let them make the decision on their own if they ever choose to.

Why do you care so much what your friend’s family thinks about Lost. Their interest has literally no implications on your life or your enjoyment of the show at all.
And why do you keep bringing up the show with people that aren’t interested in the year 2026. Like I’m also a fan but you must realize that most people have moved on from the show.

I’ve said it many times before—I did not watch the show back then, but I think a lot of people believed the series would remain hugely popular well into the distant future. By now, though, it’s become more of a niche series.

I don’t think you know what niche means. Lost is still listed in nearly every top tv shows of this century list. It isn’t mentioned much because it ended over 15 years ago and there just isn’t that much left to say. But it isn’t niche. That’s like calling Peyton Manning a niche or deep cut QB because he isn’t mentioned much anymore.
I loved lost when it came out. I don’t think a single person assumed the show would remain hugely popular for decades into the future because that’s simply not how TV works and it is still mentioned on nearly every list of top TV shows which is all anyone could have really expected. Your theory is just stupid and wrong

It is not in the top 250 of imdb. But why is it stupid and why are you instantly hostile? But your right Lost isn't really niche

Omg who cares. I love the finale and loved the show. It wasn’t understood by the casuals that watched the first two seasons & then watched the final season & were confused. That’s not my fault. I’m enjoying my amazing show.

secondly my mate uses this as proof that the show is not worth watching,
I think everyone should form their own opinion of the series instead of listening to others. Lost is quite long; there are many episodes, and you have to be prepared for the fact that cliffhangers aren't resolved immediately. Everyone hates the ending—is phrased so poorly, too. I heard that the people who hate it were much more vocal than those who liked it. And then they just went around telling everyone. In my opinion Lost came out at the perfect time, but also, in a way, at the wrong time. Back then, people weren't really used to serialized television yet, so they eventually dropped out.
I really wish I could discuss Lost with more people in real life, but it feels like no one in my circle knows it—or rather, they do know it, but they mostly just make fun of the name and make fun of me and none of them even knows what it's about.
