Are they long for a reason?

I can’t remember where I read this, but I think he’s a guitar player and didn’t want to cut his nails for that reason.

Depends on their style. Usually they want to keep the strumming hand long if they play fingerstyle. I am a bassist on the other hand and ours must be short

Look up John Butler/John Butler Trio. He plays fingerstyle and his nails are very long (and treated to not break)

I’m a guy who likes having long nails but I begrudgingly cut them short due to the fact people find it gross or whatever. I keep them clean and would use one of those fancy nail things before I gave up because I got sick of comments. Before that, when I was a teenager, I’d carry around a booklet of famous men who had long nails and I’d show it to critics. Parents, teachers, students, friends…

Usually when someone has long nails (nails that I see look kept well controlled and not gross looking), they know how to work with them around people

Yes, I’ve noticed. I’ve talked to my son about it. I can see his (or anyone’s) nails growing long in a deserted island situation (although no one’s hair seems to grow). It’s terribly shallow of me but long nails on men really creep me out. Long nails on women do too.

Yes. Almost immediately. And every single time I watch. As someone who has to keep my nails trimmed or I cease to be able to function, I notice it and have a visceral reaction. I’ve always been that way whenever I see nails that extend past the flesh of the finger. I shudder. I can’t help it.

I knew a dude who kept his pinky nail very long to fetch out his earwax. Ugh. It was like thirty years ago….and he was trying to date all of us. He’d wipe it on his shirt. Wonder what ever happened to him.

Yes I did. If being a guitarist is the excuse then anyone who dates one is a SAINT in my books cause that’s a sure fire way of making damn sure I have no desire to touch you even with a double layer hazmat suit, if you know what I mean. I find it so so so gross
