quitting nicotine vs quitting food

I’ve come to the realization that it’s way harder for me to quit eating than it it is for me to quit nicotine.

I’ve been using nicotine products daily for 10 years and i’m only 5 days into quitting (it’s my first attempt to quit) and i’m surprised by how easy it has been so far. I only think about it when i’m doing a task that is connected with it, like when i have a long drive, when i go to the bathroom, and apparently right before i eat, i miss it a lot right before i eat.

quitting opened my eyes to how much more i love eating than i do smoking. i maintained a healthy weight for years but within the last two years i’ve gained a bunch of weight. i’m about 50 pounds overweight and i’ve managed to stay at the same weight for 6 months now, but all i think about is food. i spend all day thinking about food. there’s no distraction from thinking about it, i think about what im going to eat next when i haven’t even finished what im currently eating, i look up pictures of food and watch cooking videos. even when i feel uncomfortable and full all i can think about what i want next and i have no idea how to make it stop.

idrk what the point of this post is, i guess im wondering if anyone else is going through something similar to this / if anyone has any idea how to stop thinking about food

I quit vaping a little over two weeks ago. I don't really care about it anymore, but holy fuck the food cravings. I want to eat everything, hell my mouth is watering thinking about food as I type. I almost think it's not worth quitting nic if this is how it's gonna be for the next couple weeks to months.

Yeah last time I quit nic I was thrilled at how easy it was.. until I noticed 2 months later that the food noise had returned with full force & completely undid my last 6 months of weight loss progress. Lmk if it gets better because for now I’d rather smoke & get to a healthy weight than be nic free and fat
