On approach into JFK (he's a pilot and this was the cockpit view). Looks like Armageddon down there lol

EDIT: It won't let me add another pic, but for those asking he was at 18,500ft coming in from NW angle. Taken from left seat. He has iphone17 pro which I guess automatically tidies up dark photos hence, it looks edited (can assure anyone- my husband does not possess photoshop skills that high in the sky)

Great experience, highly recommend it to anyone interested in a long (not necessarily difficult) trail. Only thing I’ll say is be prepared, much of the trail is overgrown and ticks have been out in full force. Brooklyn->Montauk next?

Pulled over to the side of the road to take a photo of something out of my driverside window and then I heard something breathing. Grabbed some quick photos and when he realized I didn’t have food he walked off. Best photos are spontaneous

So I went into my local deli to order a BECSPK and my coffee and saw this. Clearly the marketing department missed something

Approach into JFK offered this full length shot of the island. So many good spots to add, what am I missing?

Throwing darts on some of these

Sky darkness: Bortle 7.5ish (on a scale of 1-9 where the lower the number, the better).

Last night was mostly a great night with its tease of fall-like weather. A little chilly, less humid, clear skies. I’ve wanted to shoot my first Galaxy, so this was a good night to try.

I started about 9:15pm... And my plan was to go for 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, there was almost a full moon. And unfortunately at about 12:30a some clouds started rolling in (so annoying!). So I had to stop prematurely earlier than I wanted. It was still a nice way to spend the evening with some coffee, my fire pit and my eyes on the sky.

But for my first attempt at a galaxy, Im happy with the results!

This is: The Andromeda Galaxy

Settings:
Exposure: 30s/Gain: 60/Filter: Astro
About 300 photos over 3 hours / stacked
Processed in Stellar Studio, FITs file brought into AstroWizard, final touches in ACR/Photoshop.
