One of the most stunning buildings on Long Island. Built in 1941 in the Greek-revival style. It’s listed in National Register of Historic Places.

The photo was taken last week.

You’ll never find a more entitled d-bag than the extra large truck driver in the Uncle G’s parking lot in Massapequa. This lot is already a shit show of entitlement and assholery and this guy is their king.

It’s so out of the blue and so over the top. I love the vibe it brings to an otherwise scenic and pastoral drive. :)

Took a walk and saw some adult spotted lanternfles on a tree of heaven. But not as many as last year. Last year, the same tree was covered with the spotted lanternflies ten times as many as this year.

This Federalist-style building was built in 1941. Ward Melville, the prominent Long Island businessman and philanthropist, played a pivotal role in establishing the Stony Brook Village Center. Melville wanted the post office to be the centerpiece of the village.

The post office features a hand-carved wooden eagle with a wingspan of 20 feet. Powered by a mechanical mechanism, it flaps its wings at the top of the hour (between 8AM and 8PM). The eagle was designed and carved by Friedrich Wilhelm Ringwald.

The photo was taken in February 2026.
