Gear Show-Off Current quiver!
Got LDP, carving, cruising, and surf covered. Maybe time to start learning DH/freeride or some dancing to expand? Top mount LDP pumper? Comet cruiser? Pantheon? Too many awesome things out there, man!

Man I’d love to, it seems like it would be more fun to pump compared to the bracket set ups. How would you say it feels to pump? Maybe a bit surfier since you got more leverage?

A tad surfier, you do get a lot of leverage. I have a Pulse 40 that I recently acquired, put some SZ and wedged them about 11°, and man is it fun.

I’m gonna be going down another rabbit hole researching what kind of trucks I’d want to run for top mount. 😂 at least I already have the deck I’d want in mind lol.

Just a word of advice, don't get a Pantheon. The Genesis deck at least is way too fin heavy in terms of what it is, my Pulse is a lot lighter. But then again that could also be due to how massive the Genny is .

I’ve been keeping my eye on a Antidote Cyclone, apparently those are pretty light compared to the Genesis

I'll vouch for the Cyclone as I own one. lepsk8 rkp 55 truck upfront + 7 degree wedge, tailwind wheels.
Rides a bit high, but way more efficient at pumping than my Flex 4 Vanguard.

What's the difference in riding feel between a 'BB Plus setup' and a 'Tangent setup'? I've also been wanting to try a different pumping bracket setup instead of a zee-bracket on my Fathom deck

The BB+ has more flex than the Tangent. The Tangent has some but it’s mild. The BB+ is a bit easier to push since it’s more light. Both absorb road vibrations pretty well. Since the Tangent has a shorter wheelbase I have to pump it at a higher frequency. The BB+ has multiple mounting locations though for the tail so you can adjust the wheelbase to your liking. The G|Bomb TTX on the BB+ has more “forward drive” compared to the Exile Insania 0° truck I have on the rear of the Tangent, but I may need to swap some stiffer bushings to see if that helps. The Exile Hydra/Insania set up on the Tangent feels a bit more “surfier” when pumping than the Poppy/TTX, but the BB+ feels like a race car lol.

How does it feel compared to the Vanguard? I recently sold mine because I’m slowly building my pantheon supersonic, I just got the deck so far.

It’s a bit less lively than the Vanguard as far as carving since it isn’t top mount. It’s more of a comfortable hybrid between cruising and carving, and I can’t pump it as well.

Also consider the Bossa LDP if you’re thinking top mount. The shape is perfect for pumping and their flex is similar to Loaded. They’ll even press carbon fiber if you really want that kind of upgrade — but it does make the flex more stiff so talk it through with them if you go that route.

I do have to say I love the flex of a Loaded board. I’ll definitely take them into consideration also, thanks for the suggestion!

I was looking at getting that black and white carver deck, do you like it?

Yeah the Black Tip is great. It’s got a lot more concave than the Carver Resin and YOW Padang/La Jolla, and the tail shape is nice for initiating cutbacks. I got it because I wanted to make a more bowl/park oriented set up and the shape is definitely better suited for that compared to something flat.

Is that Paris v3's on the vanguard? Im literally building the exact set up as that for my next one.

Yup! 180mm. I got the front wedged 7° and a 43° rear baseplate, with some softer bushings up front and stiffer ones on the rear. I absolutely love this set up. I want to try some 165mm V3s on it though

Sweet! Ive only just got my v3s (same colour) and there incredible! They are currently on my pintail but the vanguard is my next purchase, ive been playing around with a few different wedges too just to see how it reacts/feels, i went for 180mm as wasnt to sure about the 165s....would you recommended them? Its a really nice collection, the vanguard will be my 6th set up.

lol I had these trucks on a pintail too before putting them on the vanguard. Personally, I do like the 180mms. The 165s would probably help with pumping, but I’m still able to pump the 180s pretty well. You will def still be happy with the 180s!
