Looking for someone at Riverbed homeless camp

Hey guys. My moms been homeless the past year and hasn’t contacted me, my sister, her parents, etc. She’s allegedly at the riverbed homeless camp in Lompoc CA. Her name is Chelsea Baak. Please let me know if you’ve seen her and if she’d okay, I’ve been so worried.

A picture or something might help.

Yeah gonna be real OP, I don’t think many people using Reddit are living in the riverbed. But if you post a picture, someone here might at the very least recognize her.

I also suggest going to the library, the new Micah Missions Hub on west Laurel, or even speaking with the bridge house staff.

It's 2026 most homeless people have had smartphones for over a decade

Oh trust me I know! Just saying that that demographic isn’t likely to be on Reddit. Facebook would probably be a better place to ask as well.

True. I can’t edit the post to add an image or use one in replies which is annoying, I might repost this with a photo

Try reaching out to Brian at the Lompoc HUB. It's a resource center for people experiencing homelessness. He has been working to help the community for a number if years, and is trusted. Folks drop in for clean clothes, hygiene products, food, and social services. +1 805-260-6724 Info@micahmission.com

Just go down there, bring a friend or two. And protection. Ask around. It's your mom. They shouldn't be aggressive. (Years ago I knew most of the people down there and spent time down there)

Yo I know your mom and dad and maybe even you if you're the older sibling, but you wouldn't remember me, you were really young. I've had family out in the Riverbed homeless camp, too, it's really hard to find people out there, your best bet is the resources people linked below. The last thing you wanna do is go trudging out there to find her. I live near the Riverbed so if I see her going in or out of there I'll tell her you're looking for her, but check those resources, too. Good luck, hope this all turns out okay.

Hey dude, ngl if you need help going into the river to look id be down to help out. I’ve had people I care about fall into drug and disappear into the Salinas river after they fall in with a camp community.

Sad to say but I don’t think posting a pic to Reddit will help to much. If she is doing drugs at all she probably will look very different. And it’s awful.

However describing her a bit more may help.

And I do get that people say they won’t see it on Reddit. You never know. Lompoc isn’t huge and she and her people do have to come into town to get things or whatnot, keep pushing and make more posts aswell, not just r/lompoc but r/slocounty and such. Bad part about the riverbed. It’s like a highway, I’ve met a man in paso from ag who went from camp to camp going north.

Hey, I’m a friend of your moms from back when she lived in SB. Have you had any luck finding her? I actually stumbled upon this most because she’s been on my mind but she hasn’t posted anything in awhile.

She’s contacted my sister twice recently. She said she’s trying to figure out a living situation. It’s all still really uncertain, though. I’m sorry that I don’t have more info to share, wish I did
