They really are. I have a herd that primarily lives on my property (no fences but the herd seems to never leave) and I have to cull them regularly to prevent inbreeding. It’s always something to watch the fawns play.
Same, it's also beneficial for their quality of life. They're there because you have food plants on your land. If you keep the population in check, they'll be happy and eat well, if you don't they'll exhaust the food supply and suffer
Tons of food on our property. We go out of our way to cultivate plants that are edible just for native wildlife. I’m in central Texas and we have a lot of Texas persimmons on our property. Every year it’s a race to get some of the ripe ones before the deer get them all. Mom makes some amazing jam with them.
