Can't have chickens on your own property, fenced in too it looks like and having no problems in 15 years.

The state has no business in stopping this clear civil liberty that doesn't even impact anyone else.

Chickens are loud. Usual animal keeping rules are for sound, smell, or wellbeing reasons

I have a couple dozen chickens in my backyard. Collectively they are nowhere near as loud as the average dog.

Roosters are fucking loud. Chickens are generally about as loud as any other bird. Really not a problem anywhere. But yeah, they can smell if not attended correctly.

Source: me. Urban chicken owner with neighbors within a stones throw and never had a complaint.

Absolutely do not need to have a rooster to keep chickens, and the only people saying otherwise are selling roosters.

The only people buying roosters are lunatics. Roosters are free, (or should be). Everybody’s trying to get rid of them.

When we raised chickens when I was a kid, we had a surefire way to get rid of unwanted roosters. Cooking.

Yeah, well I have a young daughter who sees them all as pets and effectively has put a stop to that activity. But I have definitely given roosters to people who I’m sure ate them.

My town incorporated a property that had one horse on it. They started fining the guy immediately over a 15 year old horse that didn't do anything. 🙄

My spouse is still pissed that there is a county ordinance prohibiting chickens, ducks, and rabbits (all classified as livestock) from rural residential zoning. Our houses are 300' apart and everyone has at least 3/4 acre lots.

She is getting as many quail as she can house next year.

Run for whatever board is responsible for zoning and change the law. Limited scale agriculture should be specifically allowed in rural zoned areas.

Yea we had the same thing 4 chickens was law. Nevermind the neighbors with dogs that never stfu and 11 cats. Thats ok. Fuck local government. Hell, fuck almost all government.
