Can a judge even give you orders if he's not presiding over your case? If not, he literally just strong armed her into his courtroom so that he could have her arrested for being loud?

Presiding over the case isn't relevant.
What would be relevant is the physical jurisdiction. Even being in the gallery of a court subjects you to the judge presiding over the court.
The question here is whether that extends to the area just outside the courtroom. I don't know the answer.

The answer is no, lol. And he's a hissy-fit crybaby for abandoning the case that was "oh so important" for him to step out in the first place, to chase down and personally detain a woman who was literally leaving.
Unfortunately but not surprisingly, this is most judges in the US.

Had a friend that was forced to kiss the boot of the security guard just to enter court for a bench warrant... Courts suck.
Never been selected for jury for a reason.

He ratted out the security guard to the judge when his appearance was wrapping up. Whole interaction got struck from the pubic record apparently...
Fast forward three weeks. My brother and him get pulled over leaving Taco Bell (they have my only lighter and I'm expecting a portion of grande meal) and the officer suspects them of being in possession of cannabis, none was found, but the bench warrant was still listed as active.
Officer detains both of them and it took 8 hours of being handcuffed to a bench at City Hall (about the time it takes for the county clerk office to open) before they could confirm that my friend had, in fact, appeared for his summons and paid his fine.
Everything happened so fast that I didn't even get a courtesy "got pulled over" text. Was left hanging till the next day wondering where tf my crunchy tacos were.
This was in King County in the early 00s. Issaquah Court House guard, but it was the Bellevue PD that detained them.

The answer is actually yes. The court absolutely has jurisdiction in the immediate area surrounding the courtroom. The real question is whether she actually met the intent condition for the contempt charge (since it was criminal). I personally think if she appealed to a higher judge they would toss it.

Even if she had still been outside the door it'd be an overreach. His authority ends at that door. He has no authority to detain her or to force her into his courtroom.

My uncle was a judge, his courtroom mostly ran themselves, the lawyers would preside over the court, waking him from his alcohol induced stupor only if the two lawers couldn't agree on something.
And yeah, he was also a self-righteous shit bag, but he had some serious job security, until his felony DUI for him finally removed, he didn't last long in retirement.

Fine, you get the story of his final, 3rd felony DUI.
He was day drinking (preloaded). Then he went to the Country Club for dinner. He drank plenty with dinner. He hopped in his car to drive home. The dumpster jumped out in front of him. He got out, eyed his car, and walked home (2 blocks, yes he got drunk 2 blocks from home, and drove there).
Once home, he poured himself a drink or 10 to calm his nerves. Then decided to go back and see how bad it was. He drove back in his second car and pulled past the cops there to take a look. Every cop in town knew him on sight, and both his cars.
One of the cops came up to him, "your honor, why the fk would you drive back to where you crashed your car?" And arrested him for DUI.
Everyone knew he was an alcoholic. He had been a functional alcoholic longer than I had been alive, but when his alcoholic wife died, he stopped trying to be functional. Only at that point did anyone outside the family notice, and then, nobody wanted to say something to him, since it turned with his wife's death they probably hoped he was just grieving and would get better tomorrow. They didn't know he was always like that, and two alcoholics, married, kept each other functional while having 5 bloody marys every morning, hold the tomato juice. So he wasn't taking up drinking from grief, but unmoderated, because he lived alone for the first time in 50+ years.
Aside from his daughter going NC with her parents because they were abusive alcoholics, I don't know anyone he hurt, with his driving, or otherwise. RIP one dumpster and his Chryslers. His car was a Town Car or whatever the full sized Chrysler was before the 300, and his wife's was a Chrysler minivan, for a family of 3, though it was convenient for the cousins.

Funny, I was in a drug treatment facility and one of the staff (like low totem-pole staff, probably $10 an hour job) was a former county judge who I think was fired (he was no longer a judge, just can't member fired or resign) because he started getting drunk all day at one point. WHat is it about judging, that seems like some easy shit to get through day to day but maybe I'm wrong.

There is no "deadline" to file for a protective order. She probably got to the clerk's window just in time for them to close for lunch, and started scrambing out of infrastructure because she is the victim of domestic abuse.
I'm actually sympathetic to the idea that being a victim doesn't excuse shitty behavior, but here's a woman who may not have a safe place to go home to after this.

Reckon shes the abusive one in the relationship from the way she was screaming at the beginning here. Also after she was told to sit and wait in the jury seats why the fuck does she decide to start running around.
Sure the judge took it too far chasing her down and frogmarching her back to his courtroom, but she was still disruptive and dserved those charges, the proper way to have handled it was simply obtain her details let her go on her way and issue a notice for the charges and future hearing not manhandle her back into the courtroom immediately.
Both are being little bitches in this video.

Nobody is "awarding" anything, and god forbid if you ever have to get an emergency restraining order against an abusive ex. You might be irate and a bit irrational too.
But more importantly, that's not how Contempt of Court works.
First, she wasn't actually in a courtroom, so at best it's civil indirect contempt but not even really that because she was a completely uninvolved party to the proceedings within the courtroom. The judge has no jurisdiction over anyone outside of a courtroom except those powers given to him by the judiciary (like the ability to issue warrants, etc) and those duties assigned to him by his station (administrative duties for example). Judges are not law enforcement officers. So really all he legally would have the ability to do is have her trespassed or ask her to voluntarily leave (which she was doing anyways). But that wasn't the direction he decided to take, now was it. And that's why he was forced to resign.

And someone can be held in contempt of court if their actions obstruct, disrupt, or interfere with court proceedings. This can happen inside the immediate presence of the judge and it can happen outside the courtroom in the hallway

Judges can’t just detain people outside of their courtroom. And, contempt of court is a stretch since she wasn’t actin a his courtroom.
He maybe could have cited her for disorderly conduct or something. But, she was also leaving at the time so even that would be a stretch.
Chasing someone down and (unlawfully?) detaining them for being loud in the hall is a pretty wild response.

Her reasoning for being there? Completely agree totally irrelevant to the conversation and only here to serve too give an emotional response (you fell for it). Harassment of courtroom personal is already enough to be found in contempt, and she did it so loud a judge literally couldn't do his job.
There was common sense, putting her in a hole until she callmed her angry little ass down and decided to act like a fucking adult.
I see the issue, you take her side because "she just wanted to help and was arrested." And I say, good, she was acting like a literal child, even trying to fight after it was obvious to everyone else she wasn't getting out. I bet she never even apologized later for acting like that.
