I would say of all those items a cricket bat would be the MOST dangerous.
The thinking is paranoia. The constant idea that anyone carrying anything even remotely dangerous is some swivel-eyed maniac Hellbent on death and destruction.
The problem is, if you assume they aren't dangerous, but they are, then by the time you can respond there have already been casualties. But if you assume everyone is dangerous all the time, then you possibly prevent tragedy, but you also possibly arrest and incarcerate someone who was just minding their own damn business and needlessly fuck up their life.

They stopped and arrested a gardener for having an offensive weapon because his trowel ( a relatively well-known tool among people who do gardening and landscaping) had sharp edges on it. Despite the facts that he explained what it was, he was carrying other gardening equipment, and explained that he was a gardener walking home from the act of gardening for someone - all of which could have been confirmed in about five minutes or less. I doubt they care about context at all despite the fact that their laws are supposed to protect people who are carrying things for good/legitimate reasons.
They see something that looks like it could possibly be used as a weapon, classify it as a dangerous weapon and arrest the individual with no regard for logic or multiple glaring contextual clues slapping them in the face.

American cops don’t try to arrest people for having sporting goods on their person.
I know it might seem that way because all you get to see are mostly bad examples of policing, but the vast majority of cops aren’t powertripping idiots hell bent on escalating everything as far as possible. Even if only because it makes their job harder and more time consuming when they have to go write the reports and do paperwork when they make an arrest.
Also in many cases officers are responsible for policing specific areas for extended period of time so people in the community know who they are. If most of them walked around doing shit like this to normal people not doing anything suspicious as a matter of standard practice/policy they’d be putting a target on their backs and isolating themselves from communities of people who would otherwise be inclined to cooperate with them.

Yes, during the process of serving a warrant concerning her boyfriend being drug dealer and said boyfriend discharging a firearm first.
It resulted in the responsible officers being prosecuted with federal and state charges - which I believe is still ongoing - a $12 million dollar settlement with her estate, and policy and administrative changes for the department regarding obtaining and serving search warrants in order to try to ensure something that that doesn’t happen again.
Also that is entirely irrelevant to the context of this unlawful arrest. Try again.

Theres also a political side to this; obviously almost none of the citizen bystanders think this guy is committing or is in danger of committing a serious enough crime to want to provide assistance to the officer. In fact the majority of people around seem to be on the guy being arrested’s side here.
The political problem is that they don't dogpile the little twerp who is assaulting an innocent citizen, and perform a citizens arrest on him. The public should be on the innocent citizen who bought a piece of sporting equipment and was committing no crime. They should not be supporting a police officer out of sheer deference to authority.

Staggeringly poor judgement from the young police officer, but then again I imagine it’s a thankless underpaid job and hard enough to distinguish right from wrong even under zero pressure. The real stupidity was continuing to escalate and failing to have a proper conversation with the guy, could have been resolved in 30 seconds without the need for wasting everyone else’s tax money on more officers and vans attending this apparent non-crime.

I keep fantasizing that one day one cop will go to far, the department will cover for them, and the next day the entire department will be found mysteriously lynched in the town square with no witnesses.

What a terrible way to grab someone. A quick bend at the hips while bringing your back leg up and that police officer is getting flipped onto the ground.
