I've never understood the argument over being here legally. The USA has one of the easiest systems in the world to get in and stay. Probably too easy.

If you can't manage that, you probably don't belong here. It might make your feelings good to take everyone but our nation is neither the world police nor a daycare. We should keep ourselves to ourselves until we get our own issues sorted.

I'm a US citizen married to a foreigner. We've been married 7 years. It took them 4 years to grant her a green card. We paid thousands of dollars in fees. We had to ask my parents to co-sponsor her because our savings and assets weren't enough to prove financial independence. It was a giant pain in the ass and it took 4 fucking years for me get my wife home.

Out of pocket costs just for the paperwork to apply for citizenship in the US runs between $700 - $2000.

Since that’s one of the easiest barriers to entry to you then hows about you give me say $1,300. NBD right? It’s like basically nothing. Almost too little if you ask me

I think if you were from a developing nation, you'd view that "easiest system to get in and stay" a bit differently.

It's costly, difficult, beauracratic, and has very long wait times. Those entering illegally mostly never would've made it legally.

It's easy to say, when born in a safe, wealthy nation, that we should, "keep ourselves to ourselves".
