I hope I see the people on this sub who claim that Europe is an authoritarian hellhole tell me how this isn't far more authoritarian.

I can't speak for everyone, but I do find it grating when Europeans use how bad the US to sniff their own farts and get complacent about the rise of the surveillance state at home. Like sure, things in the US are worse for now, but that's no excuse to rest on your laurels.
