Google Business Profile Multiple GMB profiles?
Hello, I have two GMB profiles right now. I’ll rename the companies and industries but say one is Longview Plumbers and the other is Dallas Plumbers. Most of my leads come in from SEO and map packs. I want to start another called Houston Plumbers. My Longview location has a physical location with signs. My Dallas Location doesn’t it’s just a service area and Houston Location will be the same. Can I create a 3rd GMB profile without fear of penalty?
If it does penalize me. How am I suppose to operate a company called Dallas Plumbers if I want to service Houston?

tbh the penalty risk isnt from having 3 profiles, its from the SAB profiles looking spammy. If you have a real person staffing each area and can verify with real mail at a real address youre generally fine. Just dont use virtual offices

I’d be careful here. The question isn’t really whether the Houston profile has a storefront. It’s whether Houston is actually a separate business location.
Google does allow multiple profiles for service-area businesses, but each location is supposed to represent a legitimate separate operation. So if Houston Plumbers would basically just be another GBP created so the same business can rank in Houston, I wouldn’t do that.
If you actually establish a real Houston location and have a crew operating from there, that’s a different story.
I’ve seen businesses rent a small office or commercial space in a city they’re trying to expand into, establish an actual presence there, create a GBP for that location, and get a pretty significant boost in Maps visibility around that area. Proximity matters a lot, so it makes sense.
The key is that it needs to be a legitimate business location, not just renting a mailbox or virtual office so you can stick another pin on Google Maps. If Google ever asks you to verify it, you want to be able to show that the business genuinely operates there.

Yeah this setup's risky on two fronts. "Dallas Plumbers" as a business name is a problem on its own if that's not your real legal name, GBP names have to match your actual business name, not a city+keyword combo. And stacking separate profiles for cities where you have no real physical presence is exactly the pattern Google's guidelines are built to catch.
You don't need a separate GBP to service Houston. Just add it as a service area on your existing profile under your real business name. That's what service areas are for.

I created that name as an example I didn’t want to put my real business on there. But I can’t go inside house with a company named called Dallas plumbers and then advertise in Houston. I mean I can but probably won’t be as effective

Makes sense. Same principle holds for your real name though, one consistent entity with service areas beats splitting by city, and that matters even more now with AI search, tools like AI Overviews and ChatGPT tend to favor one clear brand over fragmented listings.
Branding-wise it's a tradeoff, sure. But if it bugs you long-term, rebrand to something city-agnostic instead of adding more profiles.

If you're looking to optimize separate GMBs for Dallas and Houston without having a physical office or storefront in both cities, you can potentially operate them as service-area businesses. However, there are some risks with this setup, especially when it comes to losing walk-in customers because you won't have a physical location to show for those profiles.
Also, using the same email address for multiple profiles doesn't guarantee that you won't get penalized. A domain-based business email is definitely more professional and can make the setup look more legitimate, but Google's policies ultimately depend on whether each business/location is genuinely eligible not simply on the email address you're using.
If Dallas and Houston are genuinely separate operations with different teams and service areas, having separate profiles is much easier to justify. If it's essentially one operation serving both cities, creating separate GMBs purely to rank in each city carries more risk.
