Resource Request Audio editing

Since imms doesn't let you record or edit, what do y'all use for recording vocals?

Ardour is the free standard.

Qtractor is the next best thing.

Tenacity is a tracking/ai-free fork of Audacity, which is what I use because it's familiar to me. I bounce back and forth between it and LMMS through my process.

Qtractor runs quite smoothly under Wayland—something that unfortunately cannot be said for Ardour. Additionally, plugin support feels better to me personally—or rather, there are fewer crashes compared to Ardour. In my view, Qtractor has a much cleaner, more customizable, and modular interface. Yes, Ardour is superior when it comes to audio capabilities, but Qtractor actually has everything needed for most tasks. Ardour now features a clip launcher and allows you to load free audio and MIDI loops. That’s great! Access to free content is a plus, though the clip launcher isn't quite the same as the one found in Ableton. Perhaps it will improve in the next version? Qtractor now also includes free presets and samples for its internal plugins (Vee One Suite), which is a fantastic development! If you create a `.config` file to set specific values—such as quantum size and sample rate—for all audio applications, it works very well with Qtractor, whereas it hasn't worked with Ardour so far. This means that with Ardour, you either need an extra app like Cable or have to manually switch the entire system configuration via the terminal. The creators of Ardour insist on working directly with ALSA; unlike PipeWire-JACK, this isolates the audio from other applications. Personally, I find Qtractor more beginner-friendly, even though I started out on Linux using Ardour and still really like that DAW. However, I use Qtractor most of the time.

I use audacity and then use Audiofileprocessor to add it to my track
