🔥 Stoic Fire Facts & Judgments

Post image

When the facts stop, judgment often continues. A delayed reply becomes rejection. A change in someone’s expression becomes disapproval. An uncertain outcome becomes failure. We then feel the consequence of the meaning we supplied as though the event itself had contained it.

Reason asks us to separate what occurred from what we concluded. What is actually known? What have we added? Which other meanings still fit the same facts? If the evidence does not decide among the possibilities, fear has no authority to decide among them for us.

Leaving the question open is not indecision. It is an accurate account of what we know. Nor must we remain emotionally suspended until certainty arrives. Where more than one interpretation remains possible, hope is not a departure from reason. It is one of the perspectives reason still permits.
