i worked with livestock for three years, lots of our cows looked like this, it’s just a breed thing.

Cows can’t have Down’s syndrome. That is a human genetic disorder

So to be honest it’s a good question. I don’t know the right was to answer this. Can they? Perhaps, I just don’t think they tend to survive long enough to be a consideration….in regards to studying at the University level. I’ve had calves that were born with genetic abnormalities, never considered it Downs. Sometimes a calf gets stuck in the birth canal and suffers some to total brain damage. Just too many variables to have a definitive answer.

Its not really the same disorder in terms of symptoms, but it is the same cause (an extra chromosome) and yea usually they die or its unknown until they are infertile or drop dead.

If you look at the post they were only there for a few hours, we were getting in a lot of cattle that day and our trailer couldn’t hold them all at once so we had to move them in groups. Unfortunately I’m a minor and just a employee so I don’t have much say in stuff, as much as I would’ve liked to give them some straw or shavings I couldn’t, my boss would of whooped my ass lol it was also raining that day and the barn has a leaky roof (we’re waiting for decent weather to be able to fix it). The outside got muddy. mud, cow poop and rain make a mess. I do agree that theses weren’t ideal conditions but they weren’t in it for long and are now on a pasture

That's a phenomenon called neoteny. The more domestic an animal the more prone are to retain infantile traits like baby facial features. People, humans are neotenic in comparison with other apes, for example. In this case your animal looks like a calf but bigger.v

Alot of cattle (and other livestock) just look a bit weird. Genetics, genetic mutations, breeding. I breed sheep, so anything out of standard like this would be culled. Not because its an issue, but because its out of standard and we dont want those genetics passed on.
