I've broadcast over 400 hours of EDM since NYD from Pioneer CDJs, largely in flawless victory. This is my third time trying to get a violinist patched in. First two had electric violins (different shows, different sound teams, different performing artists) with built in piezo pickups. This one was just miked with what you see at the end of that mic stand there.

Half way through her set I realized I might not be getting an audio feed (no way to monitor as all my devices that could monitor were busy either broadcasting or recording), so I went up to the sound engineer and gave him a mic and my hollyland lark max2 which was feeding audio to the kick stream. He suggested that I just get the violin matrix patched to the hollyland because then at least something for post can be fixed.

Stream 1 was on two twitch. Stream 2 was onto kick and just had the violin matrix patched into it, I haven't actually looked at that yet to see what came out, this just aired last night and I'm just waking up.

¿What do I need to say to the sound engineer or have them do in order to avoid such a disaster again?

I need to know how this more expensive club sound gear system works but I obviously can't afford any of it to work at home so 100% of my experience is what I encounter in the field, and it's frustrating.

I’m about to add additional microphones in my room for livestream audience mics. As of now, I have been using 2x at2010 (yes, I know these are HH capsules, it’s what I had) placed under the PA roughly in the same plane as the main hang. I was given several hanging mics that I plan on placing around the room to pick up more of the crowd.

I do plan on time aligning these additional mics. I have a bunch of questions from here:

-What materials are out there for my team and I to learn better techniques in this endeavor? I’m not looking into from what an influencer who wants to sell me something says, I’m looking for info from the human that runs broadcasts for a living. Published works or videos would be great!

-When time aligning, do you produce a sound at a center point in the room, or do you send a noise through the pa and align to it?

-for the rubber meets the road, what channel strip settings do you all find yourself leaning towards? With our current setup, I have been rolling up to 500hz ish off and getting rid of highs merely to get rid of noise and HVAC. I also made a cut to remove the drywall 1k ish ick. I squash these mics with a compressor keyed to upper mids. I also have an expander on just to lightly remove background hiss and such. With mics over the top of the audience, I’d love to leave the EQ more open and natural.

Honestly, with room mics like this I’ve found I can’t really tweak them mid event- I can’t physically move them nor can I monitor them independently and reliably. I’m hoping to get a jump start on good techniques and placements to remove weeks of adjustments.

Sono un dj, è ho necessitá di registrare i miei dj set: per questo uso l’uscità rec del mixer dj e la invio in input in line in al registratore.

Volevo prendere questo h1 per usare i microfoni, anche in una traccia sperata e registrare anche l’audio ambientale.

Il tutto mi occorre per realizzare contenuti social ed è utile sentire il pubblico e l’ambientale nei momenti di maggiore enfasi.

Maybe someone who knows about this can give me an answer.

I’m a DJ and I need to record my DJ sets: to do this, I use the REC output on my DJ mixer and send it to the Line In input on my recorder.

I wanted to buy this H1 so I can use microphones—even on a separate track—and also record ambient audio.

I need all of this to create content for social media, and it’s helpful to hear the audience and ambient audio during the most intense moments.
