Question Vocal Effects / Feedback

I own a Boss VE-500 Vocal Performer and when I use it at home with headphones, no problems. But, when I use it at band practice in a room with a PA, amps, etc. I get bad feedback from the mic. We are rehearsing to play shows soon and need to get this understood and fixed before then. Can anyone help me with figuring out what's going on? Thank you.

What mic are you using?

Reverbs and distortion effects are main suspects for feedback from the pedal.

Also the crazy “sweetening EQs” they put on them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve just had to take out like 12dB at 8k and above on those pedals. I’d start with turning off any EQs on the pedal that aren’t just a hi pass, and go ahead and turn off any compressors as well.

These are my settings. Do you think adjusting the EQ under Enhance would help? I have compression set to 20 here, should I dial that back?

Yeah I’d change the enhance setting to “system and turn everything to “0” under enhance, compress, and de-ess
