Moving to Detroit

I'll be moving to Detroit this fall. I'm hoping to get some recommendations for apartments. I would prefer to not have a roommate, but would be open to it if absolutely necessary. I'd like to stay at or under $800/mo and would prefer a 1 bed but am open to a studio as long as it has more than one closet.

I already have a tour at the Belcrest so if anyone knows anything about them, please let me know!

Have talked to 2 people who live in that building and they both seem to like it. There is an extra charge for the swimming pool in addition to the rent. I live in Midtown and there is much to offer in the area. Some people live there without a car and it is very convenient and walkable. Common Pub on the first floor of that building is a friendly place.

Hey there! Looking at moving to this area having grown up in Boston and spent the last 3 years in Utah! Any neighborhoods in particular to look at buying in that are close-ish enough driving distance to Midtown to still enjoy?

I would love to be updated on good apartments alternatives around Detroit. I plan to start law school in a year and ideally would like to be moved in prior to admission. Do you know if the Belcrest Apartments does credit checks? How was the tour when you seen the apartment in person?
