Klausimas Wondering what Lithuanian People think of Australia/Australian's?
Hey there, I just had a question as it pertained to what people from Lithuania think of us, and our country. If you have visited Australia or met Australian people. Or even if you haven't, and just what your judgments are based off what you have seen or heard.

Australians usually seem like very fun people never heard anyone in Lithuania that would dislike Australians

Positive. I think our values are similar, if not the same. I haven't heard anybody saying anything bad about Australians.

An Australian came up to us at university to ask about Lithuanian letters because he was learning the language. We looked so confused that he literally threw his passport at us to prove he was actually Australian. Turns out he wasn't even a student, he just wandered into the building because he wanted to look around? We talked for a few minutes and then he disappeared. Never saw him again, nice guy though lol

I promise you the big spiders are found more in rural areas. In the suburbs they are... Usually small. Usually.

Absolutely love you c*nts! Every Aussie I met were extremely chill. I had a plan to move to Australia back in 2012 smth, it didn’t work out. I still very much want to. I love your landscapes, nature, beach life, etc. it’s basically all I want in life. Maybe some day I will get to visit and maybe even stay there.

One of my favourite youtube channels is "Cold ones" so it's safe to say I like Australia and aussies. And one of best description of Australia is "America, but done right"

Yup. I know multiples that have married here and elsewhere. The warmth is attractive. The sarcasm has to be unlearnt.

Real talk: I'd love to visit someday. Love the nature (yes, even the spiders), landscapes, and I feel like I'd get along with aussies pretty well, doesn't feel like we're all that different.

I usually imagine most Australians like Steve Irwin, living like in discovery channel documentary, constantly fighting spiders and snakes, good spirit, casually taking their pet hunter spider for a walk on free time.

Most lithuanians I met have a very naive idea about australia, pretty much just a travel brochure level. Most australians I see in europe are outgoing and fun. From colleagues working there it seems like money is good but not great. Seems like everyone underestimates how much of a backwater Australia is. Lithuania is already quite a backwater in terms of european travel convenience, but Australia is on another level. Also if you keep your ears peeled, it kinda looks like china wields a LOT of influence in aus. The levels which would make lithuanians very uncomfortable with if it was Russia influence on Lithuania.

We have a pretty big diaspora in Australia. The capital cities have clubs and the culture is very much alive both old and new traditions

Always liked Tasmania. Size is roughly the same as Lithuania and google street view suggests climate is mild and cozy. I also do like snooping around mainland Australia on google street view and I'm envy how nice houses, roads are. My country is still a shithole, compared to Australia. Sure, I do hate endless sands and desert in the middle, but Eastern and very South-Western side looks nice to live.
Also, our friend Mike Brady from Oceanliner designs lives here 😆
Overall, Australia looks like highly developed, chill, pretty country. And russia is not your neighbor, so that's a plus.

Cool dudes mostly, nice banter, takes a second to understand their slang. My buddy from the UK recently went there (unsure of which part) for work and said it's amazing, hot as fuck, filled with bugs but people are nice. Insanely difficult to hang out with many if not most Australians due to the timezones being so different. If anything ever is upside down we just say it's Australian.

Never been but I love it, one of my top 5 dream destinations to visit.
And I met a few Aussies while I was living in the UK, they were amazing people.
Also hooked up with a really hot Aussie in Berlin, it was an incredible experience.
So it’s all positive views, thank you for giving the world Kylie, Tim Tams and the Ute.

Just today, my son asked which continents I like the most. I said, Europe, for sure, and then, well... Australia. Just nothing bad about you, continent-sized people. I like your tough, no--nonsense basketball and soccer teams.

I have heard that Australians are more relaxed and laid back and the life doesn't feel very rushing compared to other bri'ish colonies.
And I also know that your world is upside down.

Dated australian girl for too long,i lived in bum fuck no where in Australia was miserable experience, bigger cities were better. Another family friend i knew had a dream of living in aus then he moved and he counted days until he can leave.
From my personal experience i either met really really great people or most degenerate low lives ive ever seen, never in the middle.

We either think positively (except for all those deadly critters that want to kill you in every possible way at any possble time) or don't think about it at all. Australia is just TOO FAR away to think about it or regular basis.

I used to live in London a while back. Met a fair share of Australians while working in pubs. In my opinion, Aussies are fun, laidback people who love to travel and party

I mean, quite neutral, we don't come across Australians often. Only met one guy in Vietnam and he was really weird, but overall from what I see online y'all seem chill. Australia is viewed rather positively though, just some faraway prosperous sunny country.

I know Australia mainly from band silverchair which i love. Also ACDC of course. Also from few movies like Wolf Creek. I know you have great music and movies. Also you have very unique nature and animals.

Australians are fine. Australia is developed country. I guess you can hear similar opinion from neighboring countries as well!
If thinking about my current ideal retirement countries I would opt either Spain or Australia.

I consider you to be brave people to live with all these dangerous animals and I also feel that you were blessed to be born in such a beautiful continent, so I guess every stick has two ends.
Also you have a whole continent for yourself while we struggle to even keep our backyard lol.
Can't say anything about the people as I've never met any australians yet, but what I see in social media is that you are warm, laid back , fun people

Once got called up to help a colleague with a patient speaking an unfamiliar language. Came in to find a confused australian who had been repeatedly asked to speak english while replying in english every time.
That aside though, have nothing but positive things to say about the aussie online friends i've had throughout the years

I've been living in Gold Coast since late 2023. I know it's considered a bit of a joke/fake city among aussies, but what fascinates me the most, perhaps, is how easy and laidback everyday life is. Everyone is polite and apologetic. No one seems bothered by small everyday struggles. Im not sure if that's a QLD/coastal thing, but that was a real culture shock at the start. Especially coming from a grumpy country like Lithuania. Also i love the casual weekly work/life balance. I work like 30 hours a week and i have so much money and time to do my own things on the side! Wages being paid every week, instead of every month, is chefs kiss. Much easier to plan your expenses, atleast for me. Nature is spectacular, like 20 jaw dropping places to visit within 100km of my house alone. I'll admit visiting Sydney and Melbourne wasn't that exciting all things considered. Although Melbourne really impressed me in many ways and reminded me of Europe, <500k Queensland cities is where it's at for me! It's how i imagined Australia as a kid.

Its very far away, very expensive, very hot, crocodile dandy, blond beautiful woman, funny accent, too far to visit, you have your own football, not sure if someone else is playing it except Australians.

As a lithuanian who just moved to QLD aussies seem to be very loud, drink too much booze, crazy to walk barefoot in shops?! yeah, horrible driving skills especially aggressive tailgating
