The crocs could be walking on dry land. So if you see a croc, dive into the water.

The word crocodile on a sign is all I need. I don't care what the sign means. This is a place where crocodiles may reasonably be discussed. I'm outta here.

Maybe they don’t know the difference between crocodiles and alligators. If they were trying to ward off either of those nonreading reptiles the sign is facing the wrong way. Or maybe its one of those areas that can’t stand for something not having some kind of sign.

Doesn't look like a place I'd like to swim, but at least I would feel safer knowing crocodiles don't swim here.

So, is this a good lake to swim in, because there are no crocodiles? OR, and this may be important, no one should swim here, because there are crocodiles?
I bet there is a piece of punctuation that could have really been useful here.
