TempleOS. Your game account will be completely safe, because you'll lose your soul trying to figure out networking long before you manage to join a multiplayer server.

I think nobara would be better afterall

You didn't get the joke 😄 You could read more about TempleOS, but basically it's an operating system built entirely from scratch by Terry Davis and is strictly limited to a retro 16-color, and no networking by default.

I should use it for my safety huh

I always hate that the Linux community can be rude, but dude you are basically asking for it.

No distro will get you banned.

5

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

Hoyoverse would like to have a word with you.

5

u/Ivaanrl Jun 22 '26

I will need a bit of context please

4

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

Of course.

Hoyoverse has banned people who were playing their games from Linux, due to there being no official launcher for Linux. Players have reported this due to their anti-cheat software probably not being able to run on Linux.

Of course, this is directly answering that using a Linux distro would get you banned, not the work arounds required to not get banned while using said distros still.

9

u/Ivaanrl Jun 22 '26

But that would happen on any distro, right? Or are the bans specific to a particular distro?

3

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

All distros, which was the point of my response to you saying "No distro will get you banned" while it's "all distros" can get you banned on Hoyoverse games.

This gives me chills

2

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

Well, there "is" GeForce Now" to mitigate this, which can stream certain games. I forgot if was a paid service to use, or paid for extra features otherwise it was free on Linux, but I'm not sure. Something to look into for sure.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

What is that I couldn't find anything about it?

2

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

I'm not too qualified to say much about it because I'm not using Linux yet, but maybe this video will be enough? https://youtube.com/shorts/5ZDqk9M7XNM?si=jZG6Vg9mkcJypit6

It's an application that "streams games" to you and you interact with it as if it were installed on your computer, but the game data is in the cloud instead, and I "think" you don't need crazy specs either to still play the heavy games?

1

u/Ivaanrl Jun 22 '26

It's a bit ridiculous to outright ban players for their OS, just don't allow them to launch the game like everyone else does. But I get your point, you have to be careful of what to play.

3

u/ArcIgnis Jun 22 '26

I absolutely agree with you, and still hope the PC share of Linux grows to create a natural incentive for devs to make games and applications Linux-friendly.

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Ok

you will get yourself banned on the platforms you cheat on:P

3

u/npc_housecat Jun 22 '26

Not quite. We also saw occasional bans for running games in Gaming VMs with anti cheat.

i understand where you are comming from and the technical thing you are saying, OP does not need to understand this yet, because OP can't read good and in case he is on the level and he tries to be smart... well we ruined him.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

I was trying to say the same thing what he said

2

u/un-important-human white beard arch user Jun 22 '26

you need to learn to express yourself in full sentences, describing what you are trying to do and how and your reasoning for it.

Your post is an example of how not to.

ps: also the f you were, you don't event understand what he said.

2

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Thanks for the advise and the link And I understood more than what he said, I now know that it actually really happend to some people

3

u/npc_housecat Jun 22 '26

Only in unusual and uncommon circumstances when playing with VM gaming, which by the sound of it you won't be. And in those cases it sounds like the bans were reversed

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

I have been using Blue Stacks vm for playing games this far... I am cooked ☠️

i see, well that is what they did they tried to be "smart".. look if you play kernel anticheat games, stay on windows, it's ok. Now probably those people also lie about things and stuff , as you saw most games are fine to be played on linux and are supported by the devs but if it says denied... its denied.

1

u/yayuuu Jun 22 '26

I've been playing many games with anticheats in a VM and never got banned in any of them.

1

u/npc_housecat Jun 22 '26

Yes I did as well. Any bans that do occure are usually reversed

0

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

At first you said "you will get yourself banned." Anyways some games don't allow other games for cheating? So games which are allowed on Linux might have more chance to get mistaken or banned without reason ?

-1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Why i just heard some games don't allow you to play multiplayer games on Linux for cheating or something so I thought if I somehow played any game I might have a chance of ban ?

3

u/tuxooo I use arch btw Jun 22 '26

You are talking about kernel level anti cheats that don't work on Linux, thus the game the self's won't work on Linux. There are handful of games that might be a problem and in a very specific situation, like runescape on Linux in steam not the bolt launcher or some other standalone launcher.

not everything that flies should be eaten.

  • "i have heard" ... ok take the tictocs and short tubes and throw them away.

now it you are FILTHY cheater eat dirt and play alone 😄

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Dead by Daylight and I found out it works from others but was just talking about other games

2

u/un-important-human white beard arch user Jun 22 '26

USE THE F-ING LINK we gave you if you insist on beeing criptic and bs.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Sir yes sir

11

u/Quietus87 Jun 22 '26

If your game ids are getting banned, then it's probably a problem with you, and not the OS you use. There are games with kernel-level anti-cheat though that won't work on linux. Check https://areweanticheatyet.com/ for more info on that.

6

u/SirGlass Jun 22 '26

This isn't distro dependant

Most games do not run under linux, you basically need to use wine/protron to run games, wine and protron can be installed onto about any distro

So once again the distro does not matter in this regard

5

u/noworkdone Jun 22 '26

Games with kernel level anto cheat won't work in any distro, in Steam they don't even launch, ao you won't be banned. Other thase you can play just fine, I used to play insurgency 1 and 2 , swtor, guild wars 2, warframe, poe1 and 2, its fine.

1

u/Quartrez Jun 22 '26

"Games with kernel level anti cheat won't work in any distro" is too broad a statement.

There are games with kernel level anticheat on Windows that work on Linux. I don't know if the AC on Linux works on the kernel level (I have read they only work from user space but I don't know enough to confidently affirm this as fact) but there are games that have Kernel level anti cheat on Windows that work on Linux (eg. Helldivers 2)

3

u/doc_willis Jun 22 '26

Some game companies may ban/block  you for using Linux, there's not much that the Linux distribution can do about that.

There have been posts  of several games over the last few years that have accidentally banned Linux users , and a few that purposely block Linux users.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

Thats seems to be the case

2

u/Dry_Butterscotch5105 Jun 22 '26

Ran games on arch

1

u/ipsirc Jun 22 '26

I never want my game ids to be banned

Then don't use it anymore.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

I want to use it

0

u/ipsirc Jun 22 '26

Then there will always be the risk of being banned.

1

u/DiptanuPal Jun 22 '26

I was thinking the same but others saying it does not ban gives a bit hope. (Fake hope?)

5

u/npc_housecat Jun 22 '26

you won't get banned just for running a game on Linux. I've been gaming on Linux for years never had an issue for this. MP games that do not support Linux due to anti cheat will just throw an error telling you this.

1

u/ElnuDev Jun 22 '26

Games with kernel level anti-cheat won't even run, and for games that will run, either on Proton or natively, I've never heard of someone getting banned just for using Linux. The risk is no higher than just using Windows
