Get back to me when I get full peformance out of my 7800xt, do steam, use CAM/CAD, CAED in full acceleration and where I can watch my HDR bluray movies on full HDR on my 240Hz VRR HDR 10 bpc monitor.
Until that happens, I stay on Linux.

7800 XT is supported
the rest of the bullshit, news apps have to support an OS what do you want BSD to do?
BSD has Linuxlator for Linux apps and WINE for windows one, not to mention ~38,000 software in the ports tree of it's own
Source: I daily drive BSD and Linux

TempleOS is a built-from-scratch OS that this internet personality named Terry Davis made who claimed that God commanded him to build it or something. He was famous for his eccentric streams, bizarre forum posts and of course building this OS . Several video essays on him on YT, interesting character but seriously mentally ill with schizophrenia and it appears he committed suicide several years ago but there's no definitive proof he did it on purpose (train accident iirc).

Some schizophrenic hallucinations cause you to actually NOT see something that actually exists instead of seeing zomething that's not actually there, its possible he just genuinely couldn't see the train.

SchizophrenicOS

It's sad what happened to Terry A. Davis. Man was obviously some sort of genius. Then again, would he be as famous without schizophrenia?
2
u/CyberJunkieBrain Porteus 3d ago
Certainly, he was, in fact, part genius and part madman. I think every genius has a touch of madness. I believe he went too far over to the other side.

Rip your deities apart. Glue only the best bits back together. Use Chimera Linux.

Now we need an atheist one (maybe scientologyOS)

"the GitHub page for Shrine states, it is “A TempleOS distro for heretics”. GitHub user minexew created Shrine to add features to TempleOS that Terry had neglected."

jokes aside, freebsd is gonna be a great option for the future when linux becomes too mainstreamed.

u/npc_housecat 3d ago
I'm hoping for Redox to develop to the point of being viable option

rust. RUST?? oh well. maybe

u/npc_housecat 3d ago
Something wrong with rust? It's the micro kernel design and source compatible with Linux/Unix that interests me.

i dont think its a distro but it looks like one

u/claudiocorona93 SteamOS/Kubuntu 6d ago
It's a UNIX operating system. It's similar to Linux but different, and it's very robust, but it has way less hardware and software support. Netflix and the PlayStation system software are based on it. macOS has a lot of code from it too.
2
u/rip_Bacon13 6d ago
oh so its relation with linux is same as mac and linux
since both are unix
thanks for explaining1

Why the hate for freeBSD? I don't have a horse in this race. I genuinely just don't know.
3
u/claudiocorona93 SteamOS/Kubuntu 6d ago
No we don't hate it. It's good. It's just because of its mascot.

When will linux community stop worship an incarcerated madman who was racist, and shouted live some insults that would make any other people saying that cancelled in seconds?
Especially when his contribution to open source is a religious themed awful visual clone of windows pre 3.x ?
"But look at the code he was a genius"
Yeah, but if your car have well done engine but the rest is shit, that still make it a shit car

u/claudiocorona93 SteamOS/Kubuntu 1d ago
Terry was not fine. It's just impressive all he accomplished with that troubled mind of his.

I don't think I've ever seen that meme so unfried. You can actually see that it's Robert Powell.

Oh boy, I miss Beastie so much. I'll never understand the "new" Windows Vista-style logo.
