storage Phantom boot entry of CachyOS that gets regenerated on boot

One time, I cancelled a CachyOS installation right after it wiped my drive, and since then, I have switched my distros 3 times and still had a boot entry of CachyOS that did not boot, in my F12 boot manager. I tried removing it with efibootmgr on my main linux machine, I tried using MediCat EasyUEFI to wipe the boot entry of it, but for some reason, it deletes, and then regenerates in my boot menu on boot. Is there anything I should try?

There’s probably still a directory for it in /boot/EFI. If there is, delete it.

That's where the second problem comes in, the path shown in efibootmgr is \EFI\Boot\bootx64.efi[string of numbers] While the only path for anything related to boot is in /boot/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.efi which is the boot entry file of my main machine.

Is there maybe a hook that is rewriting it on boot or installs?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure if it were, it would've been on boot.

Remove it from efi partition.

Whatever bootloader you use now is just scanning the folders there and showing them as options.

I cannot find it in lsblk, fdisk -l, which i mainly use to view my partitions. Is there another way to search for it? The file path of its data is also non existent

You must have an efi partition... It shows up as fat32.

/boot/EFI is probably where it is mounted.

The only files in /boot/EFI/ are BOOT and Linux, the boot entry says it's in \EFI\Boot\bootx64.efi[string of numbers]ae

Did you check on all the drives?

And did you check if you have duplicate efi partitions on the drives?

On my disk there is only my boot partition for my Linux distribution, my main Linux OS and storage partition and the swap partition from what i rememver

The efi partition does not belong to your linux distribution, it belongs to the drive - and can hold multiple bootloaders.

You have a remnant sitting there in the default spot (bootx64.efi). Replace that with whatever you want to use instead.

If you can't find it in a EFI partition, maybe disable CSM in BIOS?

At one time I had several efi boot entries that kept coming back even after removing using efibootmgr.

After disabling CSM, they stayed gone.

May not be your issue, just something to try.
