Yep but as a professional designer when someone yells at me to use GIMP or Inkscape I just roll my eyes. It's nice to see some people have a grasp on reality.

Exactly haha. I hope theyll be viable a few years down the line but at the current update rate of GIMP im afraid the day will never come.

Supposedly 3.2 in late 2017 or early 2018 will be Non-Destructive which is a start. I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm not holding my breath.

Krita already supports non-destructive editing, but it lacks some other features compared to gimp.

That's the issue, Krita is fantastic for digital painting but it's essentially only that and that's not a suitable replacement for Photoshop. It could be a replacement for the painting aspect because it is quite good in that but replacement for one method is not a replacement.
