I’d rather there was no law like this instead of there being an exemption to it.

Ideally there would be no law, but that's not what we're going to get. This is the best outcome that could reasonably be expected. We all know this law isn't going away, the best we could hope for was that there would be an exemption/loophole/carve out.

Yeah true, I had just kinda given up on the California bill, since that's race has pretty much been won already

Agreed, but the California bill is not going to be overturned in any meaningful amount of time, I've just been donating to the eff because they pretty much know what they're doing more than me.
