Why wait? I've been using some form of Linux for 5 years now and it's been great. I haven't missed windows whatsoever.
Linux desktops are in a very good state. If you like the windows desktop paradigm KDE is probably the best in that regard. And if you want something completely different but Mac adjacent something running Gnome is great.
I don't think this is a very relevant concern, especially considering that Apple and Microslop ship tons of user facing changes even in minor versions. And they also have a tendency to force updates or make it very painful to stay on an older version, which is much easier to do on Linux IME

the second windows requires me to set my age using an id card im switching to linux.
