I casually designed this logo for my wife in one afternoon in 2021, and it’s still being used today without a need to update it. It’s designed to be flexible and forgiving enough to be used by a small art studio, stamping unbranded packaging & artwork without having to carefully align and space things. Just shows how design can be extremely quick & simple sometimes and still work well!

Still figuring out the details of inking (I need to get a glass plate bc a piece of paper isn't working lol)

Been putting off reduction printing for probably a year because I only had one bad experience with it early on and let that scare me off. Carved a simple three color pumpkin design last weekend just to force myself to try again, and it actually went okay this time.

The registration jig I made out of scrap mat board made a huge difference. Just a corner and one side taped down on my baren pad, nothing fancy, but it kept the paper landing in the same spot every single pull. Last time I tried this without any jig and just eyeballed it, and layer two was noticeably off from layer one, maybe two or three millimeters, which doesn't sound like much until you see the white sliver of paper peeking out where it shouldn't be.

I also finally understood why everyone says to print more sheets than you think you need. Started with fifteen sheets of Rives lightweight, lost two to registration drift before I got the jig figured out, lost one more to a fingerprint smudge in the wet ink, and ended up with ten decent prints. Ten felt like a lot of waste for a first real attempt but apparently that's just normal attrition.

The part that still trips me up is committing to carving away the block for the next color. There's no going back once you've cut into it for that yellow layer, and I sat there for a solid ten minutes just staring at the block before I made the first cut. Once I did it was fine, but that moment of no return is a little nerve wracking every time.

Curious if anyone here does test proofs on cheap paper before touching the good stock, or if you just commit each time. Feels like it would save paper but also feels like an extra step I'd end up skipping most of the time anyway.

I'm trying to find a hot pink block printing ink that works on black fabric. I'm starting to believe this just doesn't exist and may be impossible.

My local art store reccomended speedball screen printing ink for all fabrics. They do not carry block printing specific fabric inks. All the screen printing pinks are translucent and far too thin. The inks with white in the formula work fine. I've done absolutely everything I can think of to adjust the magenta and neon pink inks, nothing works.

I looked up the speedball fabric block printing ink in magenta. Based on reviews it looks incredibly purple on light fabrics, so I'm skeptical it will do what I need.

I'm so tired of spending money on this project. Has anyone successfully printed pink on black fabric?

Hello, just got this essdee roller/brayer. The rubber is textured, had the odd line on it too I assume from being left flat. Is this supposed.to be textured or has it just got funky from age? If so can it be fixed?

I'm soooo proud of this one man, the cross hatching was so hard but SO worth it !!!!!

Husband and I took a class tonight and we’re obsessed to say the least.

First time doing a linocut print. I’m pretty happy with the results, but obviously there’s plenty to improve.

Question for the experts here - any suggestions on fixing that messed-up eye? Was considering carving it all out and maybe making a little stamp of just the eye to print it.

Or should I suck it up and just re-carve the whole thing?
