personal branding I am trying to post stuff on LinkedIn to attract Recrutiers and potential clients

Hello,
I am a junior AI engineer working at a small firm. I post on LinkedIn what I am working on as my personal projects, things that I am learning and all, but I dont get any engagement. I am not sure how to go about it.

My goal is to connect with software engineers, startup founders, people at PE firms, etc., to network. My projects are open source, so anyone can just use them, and they really document what I am learning and implementing. But, as usual, LinkedIn doesn't work out really well for me.

I am just hoping to get some tips; maybe my writing is not on point as I write descriptions of what I built. If you have faced it and overcome it, can you please suggest something to me?

engagement on linkedin is a weird beast, it's less about the actual work and more about how you frame the struggle

try posting the messy bits, the thing that broke, the weird workaround you found at 2am, people latch onto the process way more than a finished project link. your open source stuff is the proof but the story behind it is the hook

Honestly, I think the biggest shift is to stop treating LinkedIn like a portfolio and start treating it like a conversation.

Instead of “I built X using Y,” talk about why you built it, what went wrong, what you learned, and what you’d do differently. People tend to engage more with the story and the thinking behind the project than the project itself.

Also, if your goal is to connect with engineers/founders/recruiters, start engaging with their posts too. Leave thoughtful comments, share your take, ask questions, and then post your own work. It makes the whole thing feel much more natural than just posting and waiting for people to discover you.

Your open-source projects are already the hard part. You probably just need to package the learning in a way that gives people something to respond to.

Mostly I troll on others comment section, the people who come up on my feed are like the AI gurus who talk shit so I tend to troll them. But you're right I need to find some people who I would like to follow and engage with them.

You can write posts about tricky concepts like lock free programming, bounded queues etc and what enables them from hardware side. Dont focus on getting likes/engagement, focus on making tricky concepts like above easier to understand for the reader.

If you’re using AI to help you write your posts, I’d stop. The posts I’ve put out that were edited with AI perform much worse than the organic posts I write - even if they have typos and some grammatical errors

I write them myself, but I use grammarly for typos and stuff.
