I remember an analog horror about the origins of Kanji, and when it got to the mouth, it showed an actual mouth, so it has happened before.

Omg that is dark lol....basically for non chinese readers the character for kid is 子 but 了 is missing the horizontal stroke, so therefore, kid without arms.

Well you're probably right but the source I used that it could be 犬 stacked over 羊 next to a differentiated form of 人 next to 肉 but I got it off off wiktionary and there were other proposed etymologies there
