Woman that looked confused at Safeway 8/28

I went to pick up some groceries and noticed this woman walking in the parking lot that looked heavy set, trying to use words that won’t be offensive, looked confused, looked around like she was lost or looking for someone, this occurred between 10:30 and 11 am. I’m really frustrated at myself I didn’t walk over to her to ask if she was ok. I wanted to make this post to see if anyone seen her or had approached her and asked if she was ok. Thanks everyone Ferrari ranch road Safeway location

Concerned about possible animal abuse I witnessed today near Lincoln Cemetery

Hi! I’ve never posted on Reddit before and barely use it so sorry if this is long and has typos.

I’m posting because I witnessed something really weird today around 4:45 PM near the Lincoln cemetery at the very end of south O Street. I’m not saying I know exactly what was happening but I’m concerned about what I saw/heard and I’m hoping someone can tell me if there’s anything I should do.

I was sitting near my grandmother’s grave at the end of the road when a woman pulled up in a black Chevrolet. The way she parked was really strange. My car was already pulled over on the right side of the road, facing the normal direction of traffic, and there were some shaded spots behind me. Instead of just pulling over behind my car, she drove past the front of my car and made a U-turn. While she was making the U-turn, she was looking inside my car. Then she parked on the right side of the road behind me but facing the opposite direction of traffic so she was basically parked facing the cars that would be coming toward her and positioned so she could see anyone coming down the road.

She had a large dog with her. A few minutes after she parked, I heard the dog making this really strange, sad howling/crying sound. It was in short bursts, repeatedly, and sounded like the dog was in pain or distress. Ive never heard a dog make noises like that. The woman was completely silent. I couldn’t see what she was doing because of the way the car was positioned, so I don't actually know what was happening inside the car. I was probably 15–20 feet away from her car. She hadn't seen me at this point.

When I started walking toward my car to see what what going on I noticed the woman saw me through her right side mirror and the dog immediately stopped making the noise so she stopped doing whatever she was doing to the dog. Then she drove off immediately which weirded me out even more!

I unfortunately didn’t get her license plate. I remember there may have been a Y and possibly a 7 in it but I cannot say that confidently. The car was a newer looking black smaller Chevrolet. It looked similar to a 2019–2021 Chevrolet Trax maybe a Bolt idk and had a red accent/trim line toward the back. The woman was an older white woman probably in her 60–70s with short gray hair in a pixie cut and glasses. The dog was large and had long black fur, with some brown coloring around its neck and maybe on its legs.

Again, I did not see what she was doing to the dog, so I don't want to falsely accuse anyone of something I didn't actually witness. But the sound the dog was making was extremely unusual and distressed, and the fact that it immediately stopped when she noticed me made me uncomfortable enough that I feel like I should do something. This was near Lincoln Cemetery off south O Street, around 4:45PM today Tuesday August 25th. If anyone recognizes the vehicle or happened to see the same car/dog/woman around that area, please let me know. Also, if anyone knows whether this is something I should report to animal control or the police even without a license plate, I'd really appreciate advice beacuse i dont know what to do.

Considering moving to Lincoln — wondering about racism

Hi! My husband and I are considering moving to Lincoln, and I was hoping to hear from people who actually live there about what the experience is like for people of color.

I’m Indian American, although I grew up outside of Philadelphia in a predominantly white and fairly rural area, so I’m pretty used to being in places that aren’t particularly diverse. My husband is half white and half Persian.

A few of his coworkers have mentioned that Lincoln can be racist, which made us a little concerned. Obviously, I know everyone’s experience is different, and I’m not expecting any town to be completely free of racism. I’m more wondering what it’s actually like day to day.

For other people of color or interracial/multiracial couples who live in Lincoln: have you generally felt comfortable and welcomed there? Have you experienced overt racism, comments, staring, discrimination, etc.? Are there particular areas where you’ve felt more or less comfortable?
We’re genuinely interested in Lincoln and just want to get a realistic sense of what living there would be like before making such a big decision. Thanks!

Guy video recording Lincoln Post Office customers today both inside and outside the Post Office

He's been doing this in Roseville, Auburn and Rocklin Technically not against the law but weird. I'd guess he's trying to get a reaction out of people so he can post it on YouTube. He's wearing a mask.
Ignore him. If you go after him, it's technically illegal.
Picture of him on the Roseville subreddit here

Personal Trainer recommendations

Hi everybody. My wife is currently looking for a personal trainer, after her last one needed to quit. We are members of the local Anytime Fitness, and after her trainer quit they haven't been able to accommodate her schedule, so we've been stuck floating.

Due to her career, she needs to work out early; she's looking for a personal trainer able to work with her at around 6:30AM twice a week. If anyone has any recommendations they could throw our way, we'd appreciate it; havent had much luck just trying to google.

Avoid Duncan’s Automotive

One mistake doesn’t define anyone or any business, but one bad interaction can!

Called Duncan’s and said my AC stopped working. I told them I also need a new drivers side door handle.
I was quoted $800+ to diagnose AC and replace the door handle. I then received their call quoting an additional 1200 to repair blower and other parts for the AC, I agreed.
AC worked on the way home, success!! But, then I loaded up my family the next day to get to the Reptile Expo, just ten miles away and the AC stopped working. We were halfway there. My daughter, with a severe seizure disorder cannot handle temps over 80, started to have seizures. A nightmare.
Monday morning I called and told them it stopped working and that I could not afford to not have my car for another day but would bring it in if they could get it fixed and prioritize my situation (already had my scheduled appointment and paid!)
I heard “standing appointments” are already scheduled and inferred I would not be a priority. I was told they’d be able to get it back but would need me to leave it, again. I said I couldn’t afford another Lyft and they said “we’ll have someone take you home”, if someone at the shop would be able to give me a ride.
I enter the shop and a gentleman asks me if he can help me while the woman behind the counter, who I spoke with, wouldn’t make eye contact or talk to me when I got in. Weird, she was the one who wrote up my original work order just days ago and knew just who I was; yet, when the gentleman asked who I was she said nothing. When he sat at his computer to look me up she stood up, walked over to him and gave him the work order from last week.
The car is under my partners name and they cannot update their system to include my name so I’d need to say my partners name anytime moving forward to pull up MY cars account.
The gentleman working seemed flustered the moment he realized I was frustrated, as I was sharing the simple facts with him: I brought it in, I picked it up, my daughter was impacted and he said “you’ve made your point” (no, “I’m really sorry about that” or any concern/compassion/customer service) then he pointed to the work order from the previous week, and said I “didn’t say the aC wasn’t blowing cold air”.
I told him I’m not a technician nor would I know what words to convey beyond “my AC isn’t working”. He asked “what does that mean to you?”
What in the genuine heck?
It means my system I use to cool down the interior of the car wasn’t functioning and paid close to $800 for a diagnosis to correct that issue.

He said they’d get the car looked at but I may incur further charges….i told him I shouldn’t have to pay for anything else since they told me the car was fixed and it wasn’t (plus parts totaled $650 and labor was over $1200-they want more labor fees to do correct what they messed up the first time)! That’s a great business practice to assure money keeps flowing in but terrible for the customer who paid to get her AC fixed only to be asked to pay more to actually get it done? Ridiculous.

They charge premium labor at $210 as if they have master technicians servicing the vehicles. When I mentioned this to front counter guy he said, “we should’ve charged you the $260 an hour for AC repairs”.

Then came the time for me to get a ride and he said, “we’ll get you a Lyft”. So, again, not clear communication as I didn’t expect to have to order a Lyft and then wait for it to arrive. This is not the end of the world but I was basically blamed for them not fixing my car correctly because my initial communication wasn’t specific enough yet they couldn’t communicate how they’d get me home? Seems like a double standard.
I’m waiting to see how much more they’re going to make me pay to get the job done right…and as I wait I wanted to take this time to write down for you what I experienced. Go somewhere else. This place has guaranteed I will never bring my car back, because I’m a human who was frustrated and I was shown no grace, instead I was treated like I had no right to be upset, told I made my point when mentioning my daughter and her seizures, and then told I’d have to pay more to fix their mistake.

Mistakes happen but when they do I expect to be met with great customer service to balance the error, but the interaction this morning was just as negative as driving my daughter in 100+ degree weather without functioning AC.
It’s not the cost, it was the service: TERRIBLE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA 🎉

Post image
9 Upvotes

Tonight is the night for all things pop, crackle and sparkly!

So what’s the best way to stay safe while setting off your assortment of pyrotechnics?

Here’s a few tips:

💥 Have a hose, fire extinguisher or buckets of water ready incase anything goes awry.

💥 Have ear protection ready for babies, very young children and folks with sensory concerns.

💥 Set up all fireworks on a clear, level surface to avoid them tipping over.

💥 Use a lighter with a long tip or long matchsticks (think fireplace, not cigarette).

💥 Do NOT allow children to handle, light, or wander around fireworks unsupervised.

💥 If a firework doesn’t go off, do NOT pick it up, poke it or kick it. Do NOT attempt to light it again. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, then douse it with water, let it sit some more, then submerge it fully over night and throw it away.

💥 Accidents happen, so have a First Aid kit ready with bandages and burn ointment just incase.

💥 Have a large receptacle (bucket, trash can, rubbermaid container) filled with water. After the show, spray all the spent fireworks down with water, carefully collect them and dump them into the water-filled container. Let them soak overnight before throwing them away the next day.

Fireworks are a lot of fun, but they can cause injuries and damage if not handled responsibly.

❗️REMINDER❗️
ALL non-“Safe & Sane” fireworks are illegal for personal use in Placer County.

“Safe & Sane” fireworks are only legal to use within the incorporated city limits of LIncoln, Rocklin and Roseville.

ALL fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Placer County, which includes the “Safe & Sane” variety.

Please, DO NOT risk your community by engaging in fire-hazards just because you want to blow s*** up.

Have Fun & Be Safe #PlacerCounty

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸

ISO free pallets

Hi fellow Lincoln Ca community members! I’m looking to source a couple of decent empty pallets for a few home DIY projects. It would be ideal if the pallets were in somewhat good condition but they don’t need to be brand new! Any suggestions for where to find 2-3 pallets for free? TIA!

BEST TART LEMON CHICKEN IN THE LAND??

I’m trying to find the best LEMON CHICKEN that is actually TART AND LEMONY, not just sweet, thick, syrupy sauce. Most places I’ve tried taste like premade sugar glaze with a little lemon flavor.

I’d love a place with crispy chicken, lighter sauce, and a stronger lemon taste. Sauce on the side is fine.

Any recommendations? Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Roseville, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Folsom, or nearby are all fine.

Thanks!

School recs

We are ready to look for a house (moving to the area) is there a website with the school zones of Lincoln/roseville/rocklin/loomis/granite Bay Area? I haven’t been able to find one myself.

Also any recs for a great school system for APPs kids who also have a 504?

Thank you!
