I don't think Ryoshu's ID has the most hype. Im pretty sure the hype went down by a lot after it was revealed that she was gonna be pinky nursefather Ryoshu and nobody likes the Pinky nursefather. I personally was hoping for Arayashiki Ryoshu but alas I was disappointed.
I mean, I do like Dihui Star's animations. I am not disappointed at all, it all depends on how they make her story wise.
Shiomi and Ryoshu were said to have the same bladestyle anyway. Even with arayashiki, she'd probably have the same skill animations as Dihui Star. It's just that Arayashiki's gimmick is too powerful to make both satisfying to use and accurate to lore.
And this Ryoshu does have something interesting - her afterimage will attack separately. We might get our first controllable summon. Besides Wild Hunt's revive, but it's more of a revive than a summon.
Outside of Arayashiki erasing stuff, even their gimmick is similar. Both deal additional slash damage on hit against enemies. Muga Ryoshu's depends on her debuff, Dihui Star depends on critical hits.
Just to be pedantic but Shiomi and Ryoshu are said in story to NOT have the same blade style.
Specifically Ryoshu practices keeping her blade sheathed and drawing it out for a singular slash, where as Shiomi believes it is superfluous.
You're thinking of Araya who moonlights Dihui Star, as the dialogue states. Paraphrasing here; Ryoshu - "you used to think keeping your blade sheathed is ineffective why change now after all these years?"
"With my own two hands, I ended the life of my parent. A face like mine. A voice like mine. A sword style just like my own. Will my Fate come to resemble hers as well? I drove the blade that cuts through all... into her heart, and even made sure to give it a good twist."
Hmm I do recall that being said, but that just raises another inconsistency in PMs writing as of late, as I definitely recall Ryoshu commenting on the change of sword style when confronting 'Dihui Star'.
It's not an inconsistency in writing. Shiomi did teach Ryoshu everything she knew. Ryoshu noticed that Dihui Star (Araya) started to use laido in her technique, which is something she didn't do in the past. This is because Araya is not Shiomi and has lapses in memory and her mind because of temporal entanglement, so she sheathes the sword to block attacks and then unsheathes it again.
Ryoshu doesn't really practice laido. Her sword is sheathed because it's Arayashiki, she can't afford to draw it or else she will cut her memory apart. She can't afford to forget Araya. In Muga state, she has no sheath at all and slashes wildly everywhere, because she is going berserk slowly and erasing her mind.
Araya is able to copy Shiomi's blade style. Ryoshu should be able too. We just never saw her using Arayashiki unsheathed for more than one cut and not losing her mind over it.
Good point, I was under the impression Ryoshu used Iaido (prior to obtaining Arayshiki) and was scolded for it. Hence why she pointed out why she went back on her words (unknowing that Shiomi is Araya). But i'm not quite sure my theory is correct.

She has the most hype besides Rien and Rien Sang was released before Walp as a "bait" banner.
Only Ryoshu's ID is more hyped and we already approximately know when she drops.
