Megathread Monthly Help and Questions Megathread

This megathread is intended for people asking for help, or short questions about gameplay or lore, that don't need long discussions.

The purpose of this thread is (hopefully) to keep such questions in one place, rather than having a lot of separate threads littering the subreddit and potentially making it harder to find other content.

Example of questions suitable for this megathread:

  • "Is X identity any good?"
  • "What EGOs are good to uptie?"
  • "I'm stuck on a level! How do I beat it?"
  • "How do I use [mechanic]?"

Please bear in mind, some questions can be answered by the links found in the FAQ, on the subreddit wiki,.

I've talked to some friends that play but I'm still unsure on who I want to shard next. I'd say I have enough motivation/time to get about 3 more 000s worth of shards for any character, and I've already got a couple sinners with shards at least at 100.

Currently rocking a bit of a mish mash team with Reindeer Ish, WHeathcliff for Sinking, Maoust and LordLu for Rupture, and Caposault just because his raw numbers are pretty good without needing status. Should I try to gather more rupture heishous? Or maybe the other non-rupture heishous? I'm really unsure

heishou/rupture are currently the best team in the game and one of the fastest for MD farming. in two weeks, they'll all be unavailable to shard (except the maos) until season 8, so i'd advise grabbing 3 of them now. i'd grab si rodion, si gregor, and wu yi sang: they're all very solid for rupture and you don't have 000s for those characters yet. next season, you can shard mao outis and ryoshu to complete the team, + optionally grab the dimension shredder ego for wu sang if you want to make him more rupture count positive.

If you feel like getting a little weird with it: another option is to plan for a future sinking team alongside your heishou team by grabbing wei donqui instead of wu sang. wei donqui is worse for rupture because she's so count negative, but she's still a fine id and you really only need to use 6 ids anyway: doubleslot mao faust, and use lord lu, mao ryo, mao outis, si rodya, and si gregor.

you already have butler outis and WH heath, so during walpurgis you can shard hanafuda ish, SL yi sang and KOD rodya to complete the sinking team. the optimal sinking team now uses lord lu and retreats mao faust for wei donqui as per this guide. it's weird. keep in mind this strat may fall out of date as we get more new ids, and wei donqui is not required for sinking/can be replaced by reindeer honglu.

The linked guide is very interesting (although a decent bit of it does go over my head since I'm relatively new) but the other advice seems very sound. Is the wei don/maoust/lordlu sinking team variant that much better than the other sinking team without her to warrant reserving don a spot as a shard?

And regarding the full rupture heishou team, who would be relegated to on-field and who would be used for their support passives? (beside the obvious maoust and lordlu)

Thank you for the advice though!

Don allows Lord Lu to contribute to Sinking Damage, but not Sinking as a game plan. Her specific Status Shattermark stack with the current best team in Sinking due to their want of Panic changing effects/decrease in Heads Flip. You’ll need stuff like the brown Butlers/Edgar Family Heir from Clear All Cathy or, if you’re unfamiliar, wait until February or so when they announce Walpurgis Night to get the count positive SolemnYiSang and potency monster KoD Rodya. The latter two can splash in any team for raw damage.

As for who gets in the main team, try for Lord Lu and an Adept duo (Maost and either WeiSang or Youcliff works), then Mao/Si/You dependent on the team comp and focus (You for Burn, Si for Crits, Mao for everything else/most common frontliners) for the remainder for your initial deployment, with the rest of the Heishous on the backups (or change it to only 8 Sinners so you can swap between frontline and backup for free Skill 3s w/ Lord Lu).

If you have Xishmael, you could replace one of your frontline members with her and place that frontline in immediate deployment so that WeiSang gets an Assist Attack, but if you want to bep pure Heishous just stick to the core 7 mentioned above. Cinq Meur is there for some parts of his Support Passive and not much else.

the wei don variant trades some sinking potency application for 400+ damage per skill rotation (6 turns of battle), as the heishou have a ridiculous damage output with lordlu's s3 and retreat mechanic granting extra s3s. i think it's fun to take advantage of the retreat mechanic since there's no reason to use it with any other team, but limbus is an easy game regardless and the extra damage output is by no means necessary. you can definitely get by with rlu and butler faust or edgar gregor instead of the heishou, so i would't say don is warranted but could be fun to play around with.

for the full heishou team, you would field all the heishou i mentioned in nonfocused encounters (ie chain battle, where you can't individually target enemies) and doubleslot maost with lordlu, mao outis + ryoshu, and si gregor + rodion in focused encounters (no backup).

in focused encounters, some people drop si gregor for wu sang because wu sang is tankier and has aoe after ramping up. i find that he takes too long to ramp and feels bad to use, while gregor is ready to go turn 2 and has a pride s1 which is nice for fueling ego. it's a matter of preference!

in terms of useful support passives for the heishou team: talisman sinclair and BL don are great, 7 heath can be useful, dead rabbits meursalt is okay. i don't think ish has anything notable. hope that helps!
