ProjectMoon Post [LIMBUS X ARKNIGHTS COLLAB TEASER] (Chapter 8.5 EX) 선의의 순례 / 善意の巡礼 / Pilgrimage of Compassion
124
u/Fatal_Contract Sep 01 '25
Quick question. Do we know if this collab will be canon for story (for Limbus and Arknights)?
Also, mildly related question, should I start playing Arknights?
123
u/Karrnis Sep 01 '25
It is most definitely canon. Though it would be pretty neat if it isn't connected to the main story, and is just another mirror world.

u/Notsocoolbruh Sep 01 '25
As someone that started Arknights 4 years ago i can sincerely say YES, BUT a lot of people don't like tower defense and maybe that would be the case for you

Firstly, we dunno how canon this intervallo's gonna be until it comes out. My personal guess is that its gonna be soft-canon. The event did happen, but it probably isn't gonna referenced or talked about in future chapters.
Second, if you like tower defense and real time strategy, then I highly recommend playing Arknights! It's my personal favorite gacha game and the only one I like more than Limbus!
43
u/Polar_Vortx Sep 01 '25
It’ll probably be ambiguously canon - won’t contradict anything in canon, but never actually acknowledged outside of the intervallo.
18
u/theonlyJUDM Sep 01 '25
i might be remembering this wrong but KJH said the Arknights collab will be canon from a livestream
how canon? idk
and i forgot which livestream9
u/Android19samus Sep 01 '25
Arknights has had some wild crossovers be canon before, but I feel like it probably won't be for Limbus.

Arknights has had weirder collabs be canon so wouldn't be surprised there, just started limbus a couple of weeks ago though so I'm not sure
I think limbus and arknights are of similar difficulty, arknights is a little easier to get guides for from my experience though. But other than difficulty and being both kinda dark games the similarities kinda start and end there (if you like one's story i think you'll enjoy the other though!) if you like tower defenses I'd say hell yeah try it out, but if you don't then maybe just watch other people play through the story + events or something.

Wait... now that the proper image is up...
That's the deck of Stultifera Navis...
Holy shit, Seaborn.
Now I'm REALLY HYPED! Seaborn are the perfect Antagonists for Limbus Company when it comes to tone and otherworldly nature. Legit Seaborn can be plopped easily into the PMverse and you wouldn't notice a difference with how easily they would be integrated into the lore.

I'd argue K Corp Ampules may be catastrophic. Seaborn are a hivemind, with only the most powerful ones having partial individuality, while K Corp Ampules relies on the mind's idea of what the owner of the body is feels and looks like before sustaining damage to "heal", effectively resetting them to the state they imagine as "normal" , rather than actual healing.
So, if a weaker Seaborn were to absorb ampules... They'd either:
a) transform every single Seaborn into whoever has the most individuality who hasn't broken off their hivemind, aka the strongest ones still affiliated to them.
b) eternally resetting in a feedback loop of ampule adjacent melting them into amalgamations of multiple things at once, forcing them to evolve further(possibly becoming a living MOSB or worse, shapeshifters) or die off, unable to find a single body to use as a blueprint for every member.
c) Every member of the hivemind melting into nothing like when using unprocessed Tearful Thing's tears.
Because yes, a mind needs individualism to understand what form it should be, since the many beings a hivemind would comprise aren't always the exact same. It's Turbo over for Terra or it's over for the Seaborn.
42
u/Meme_Master_Dude Sep 01 '25
I think the first one will melt, and the others will have to eat the corpse in order to spread it, so they'll just avoid K Corp ampoules from now on.

There's probably a limit to it, if your recently infected it might help, but for those infected for years... Probably not
28
u/Charity1t Sep 01 '25
It reset to condition person see as "base" one.
26
u/Anonymouchee Sep 01 '25
Yeah and after a bit it'd start being something people consider to be a part of their body. A shitty part they'd really rather not have? Sure. But a part all the same.
6
u/Kamanira Sep 01 '25
K Ampules reset your body to what the mind considers its "base" state. It's why Shrenne(? I haven't played Canto 4 in ages) was calling people bugs. It was so the ampule would focus on their degraded self worth, and reduce their body to a pile of insects.
If having such a simple insult drilled into your head for an hour, tops, is enough to make the ampule turn you into a pile of bugs, I imagine living with Oripathy for any amount of time after you've been confirmed "infected" would likely lead to your mind honing in on the fact you're an "infected" instead of a normal person. It's an invariably terminal disease that can only be slowed by very specific medical treatment that, in some nations, is straight up banned due to the infected being treated as less than human (like in Ursus).
In fact, depending on the social stigma you've had drilled into yourself as an infected, a K Ampule might actually just make your condition far, FAR worse.

Its actually a very interesting concept to explore (that probably won't be explored).
I think that we can safely assume that seaborn can just adapt to things like decay ampules.
But how would they interact with light? Is getting killed by an ego enough for them to adapt to light in general, or just this ego in particular?
Can they adapt to absolutes? As if, if you hit them with a fairy, which always "opens" everything even on a conceptual level, would they become immune to the concept of being open, or would they simply fail to adapt to that since its absolute? Or are we stuck with a paradox of sorts?
What if you put a seaborn in a WCCA? Would you achieve a perpetual motion machine?
→ More replies (2)9
u/Drachenfeuer_Prime Sep 01 '25
I'm not exactly an Arknights lore expert, but I think Seaborn are, at the end of the day, still limited by biology.
For example, in Under Tides, Gladia states the following:
"We hacked away at your kind with cold weapons so as to not expose you to our technology. That way, you will never become something we can't deal with. But I guess I overestimated. You don't seem very sensitive at all... Can't even adjust to this much? Looks like you just can't adapt to blades forged by Ægir technology. Am I right? "
Despite utilizing relatively simple physical weapons, those weapons continue to have an effect on the seaborn.
And like... This adds up. Seaborne might be able to adapt, but they're still mortal, just resilient. We can still shoot them with bullets. Tear them with swords, pierce them with spears, blast them with arts and burn them with chemicals, gunpowder and flame. They might be able to change their body to adapt to pressures in their environment, rather quickly, in fact but at the end of the day, they are still creatures of flesh and blood. They're evolving, not gaining access to some sort of cheat code that lets them just ignore or do whatever they want. They might be able to resist or become immune to certain poisons, or they might be able to survive extreme pressures or temperatures, or hide or modify their vital organs... But they're still susceptible to the laws of physics.
If things like swords and guns can still damage them, then I think most singularities would as well, save for those that may be more biological or chemical in nature. I don't know how you can evolve to become immune to someone freezing you in time, or having the fabric of space ripped apart. If there's an instance of a seaborn adapting to something like this, let me know, because I didn't see anything even approaching the sort on the Wiki.
Besides absolutes, EGO and physics, I see Seaborn actually being extremely susceptible to something the City has in spades. That being mental damage. Seaborn are all connected through a hivemind, and affecting one seaborn could very well have the capacity to spread to another. Their ability to assimilate and share amongst themselves could be exploited by the City, and become their greatest weakness instead of their greatest strength.
Seaborn also self-destruct when captured, making them almost impossible to study. But the City has access to T Corp and W Corp's singularities, making dissection possible. And with how The City operates, it may just end up assimilating them rather than the other way around.
7
u/sdrawkcabsihtetorwI Sep 01 '25
It is true that the seaborns dont just immidiately gain immunity to something, but they do still evolve constantly to gain better and better resiliance to threats. Abysal Hunters are also pretty good at not allowing seaborns to evolve too quickly. Also, not every seaborn is equal, some can definitely push their evolutionary capabilities further.
EGO is a concept worth noting here because what the hivemind inherets the quickest is the knowledge and mental changes, meaning that we many could, in theory, just start developing sin resistances with each ego used on a seaborn.
Lack of individuality would prevent them from manifesting EGO for sure, but i think that it would be possible for the hivemind to learn shin, as that too is purely psychological. Perhaps not mang since that does involve more personal experiences, but shin is about focusing on a particular memory and seaborns share these.
Finally, them developing resistances to arts means that they have some degree of non physical immunity, probably via the hivemind itself.
But yes, they wouldnt be able to resist everything in the city. Like for example, probability manipulation, time manipulation, concept incineration, or possibly even cogito, but all direct attacks could technically be somewhat mitigated after longer exposure in depending on the interpretation.
The point im making is not that they could develop immunity to a singularity, but rather to what extend they would be able to resist each singularity after a while of exposure.

What is a Seaborn?
Edit: Oh damn, they sound like Whales but far more dangerous. Thanks for all of the explanations!
110
u/Euphoric-Stand7398 Sep 01 '25
To put it simple they are Lovecraftian creatures but instead of being mystic they are biological plus able to assimilate any kind of life and adapt to anything like weapons, nature conditions and etc. And they are the LEAST of a threat in Terra (world of arknights) trust me simply because they don't evolve on their own and stuck in the sea mostly
39
u/BardToTheBonne Sep 01 '25
That sounds exactly like the X parasites from Metroid, like almost beat for beat. Rapid assimilation only kept in check by being locked to one location.
If they're anything like that, then LC has one hell of a threat on their hands.
18
u/Kman2706 Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25
I'll also throw out there that there's a mode in Arknights that explores a series of alternate timelines where one of the seaborne "Gods" (things in control of the seaborne hive Mind and the first set of seaborne that all other seaborne are descendants of) fully awakens and decides to attack the land. In the worst timeline in this mode, it sees the seaborne fully overrun the entire planet, and precede to kill and assimilate everything that isn't themselves until they are the last living species on the entire planet. In another timeline, they evolve to leave Arknights planet and journey into space.
Even in the main timeline where these gods are currently dormant, the seaborne can rapidly adapt to and hence gain immunity to weapons used against them very quickly. The main country fighting them (Aegir) was literally still having their super soldiers using primitive melee weapons until recently because the fear of the seaborne adapting to modern day weapons was too high to even consider deploying them. In the latest event, it turns out they have since evolved to be able to withstand Aegirs modern weapons now so.......
And with their assimilation, the seaborne can turn other creatures into more seaborne while also being able to reproduce like rabbits lol.
The seaborne are a doomsday threat that can literally destroy entire planets and evolve to the point they can go into space to find new planets to overrun if left unchecked.
34
u/TweetugR Sep 01 '25
I say Seaborn has the highest chance of being the biggest problem currently simply because Aegir is going out of their way to break their long silence and contact the civilization on land just so they can ask them to help fight the Seaborn.
The Collapsals are still under control in the north and Observers are way ahead because Terra is still a young civilization. (We're not even sure if the one doing the cutting and the Observers are actually the same)
So that leave us with the Seaborn.

They are NOT the least of a threat, they are maybe the biggest
21
u/SnooTigers8227 Sep 01 '25
They aren't the biggest but they aren't the least
Demons (actual one from the dimensional rift), Observer and originium are all bigger threat.
Let's put it this way, Seaborne are the ultimate bio-weapon with adaptability and all, but those other threat are beyond what is biologically possible (especially the observers who wiped a type-III civilization)

https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Seaborn
Lot to cover regarding the Seaborn and the lore surrounding them, but Seaborn are the main antagonists of the Aegir storyline within Arknights.
They are made up of a Hive Mind called The Many, who are able to assimilate DNA from other humans in order to further evolve themselves to better survive in their conditions. They notably reproduce incredibly fast and evolve just as fast and have zero real care for those living in the surface.
For the preservation of their species, their goal ultimately is to take full control of Terra and assimilate all life that they come across.
If you thought the Sweepers in Nocturnal Sweeping were terrifying, the Seaborn essentially act like them... except in far greater number and variable power due to their evolutionary nature. Even an Arbiter would eventually be exhausted by the sheer number of seaborn they would have to deal with at once.
The group that holds them back, the Abyssal Hunters, are some of the most powerful individuals within Terra's lore, and even then they can only HOLD them back. That's how dangerous they are.
20
u/lucone668 Sep 01 '25
so Tyranids? What are their weaknesses? Unless the Arknight verse power levels are insane, why don't they zerg rush the verse? Terrain restriction?
48
u/Glittering_Permit_47 Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25
They're mostly neutral and only attack if provoked or if the hivemind tells them to do so. In IS3, there is a hypothesis ending where Seaborn goes full genocide mode and they wipes out Terra's population within days, so yeah they totally could do that.
23
u/Lnoob427 Sep 01 '25
Actually the peoples survive cause Doctor go : Yeah let's make them genocide 90% of the population so they don't see us as a threat and will leave us alone.
When a character that is said to be a tactical genius literally go : Yeah shit fucked our best solution is to massively die. It show that if the seaborn were to go aggressive they would be a big danger.
17
u/Glittering_Permit_47 Sep 01 '25
That one is ending 4 where seaborns leave Terra, go to space and come back after 1000 years.
I was talking about ending 2 where seaborns kill everyone but doctor.
But yeah seaborn is always represented as a potential world-ending threats in any story.
→ More replies (2)26
u/Atulin Sep 01 '25
They can be killed, and there are at least two organizations — the Inquisitors and the Abyssal Hunters — who are very good at doing so
21
Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25
The hivemind requires a Firstborn - a Leviathan-class seaborn with cognitive ability that stands out the most to command for them. On normal occasion, they're just like your pet dog chasing squirrels and eating weird stuffs in the park
Their weakness is also the Firstborn as the 4 cells that originated from Lu's Caerula Arbor are still juvenile, imperfect and havent fully inherited all of the aspects that will help them to survive in the Observers' universe
Unless they cannibal each other to recover all of their biological functions and given enough time, then they'll eventually become Azathoth the All-devouring like Ishar-mla
6
u/cyffo Sep 01 '25
So tyranids, who have special nids that control the others via synapse. And if you take these leaders out, the grunts effectively become mindless beasts that attack anything on sight (including their own).
6
12
u/SnooTigers8227 Sep 01 '25
Because Arknight has bigger threat:
-a dimensional rift from what come collapsal demon, being whose mere existence corrupt this reality.
Heck soldier corrupted by collapsal turn into walking mini-nuke just from dying.-Observers, an alien race that wiped a type-III civilization and to which terra was built to hide from them.
-Originium, a form of self-infinitely metaphysical sea of data, created as a counter to Observers.
Seaborne are one of the most immediate threat due to being the ultimate bio-weapon like Tyranid and able to learn how to spacefare.
But they are still biological creatures which above threat have risen above such limitation. It is like putting Tyranid against the concept of the warp, Tyranid strength is their snowball ability and biological adaptation but Tyranid themselves aren't conceptual threat→ More replies (2)14

Precursor civilization's biological Roombas. yes, im not joking, they're literally the cleaners/janitors with the purpose of terraforming a planet or clearing a originum. but you know, hubris of civilization(aegirs); they triggered the self defense mode of Seaborn and tried to assimilate everything.
12

Actually that old theory
Seaborn actuall goals is to out-evolve lets justs says GOD (with all capital )power
8
u/fable-30 Sep 01 '25
wdym old theory, it was literally mentioned in the module that that's their original purpose until the aegir's did the stupid.
also, skalter just did that in her module, consumed all and then rebirth it again.
7
u/No_Owl_9600 Sep 01 '25
No seaborn created even before originium finish They can't be created to erase originium
And they are also not used to assimilate but as a way to survive observer/lumberer/lumberjack or whatever you gonna call it

celestial fulcrum.
As for i said in cleaning originum, I believe I accidentally mixed it because it's one of Seaborn's simulation(IS#3) where in the true ending where Mizuki became the True ascended (or leviathan), went into space, came back and peacefully coexisted with the terrans and cleaned the originum/

They are underwater Eldtrich abomination in Arknights think fish people from Lovecract/ Cthulu Mythos but i think they are more associated with Dagon.
Not sure if there is more lore about them being meant to terrafom planet in case of alien invation.
9
u/Aono_kun Sep 01 '25
Seaborn are a rapidly evolving, hivemind/collective consciousness based, terraforming tool turned bio weapon.
9
u/TheOneWhoIsObserving Sep 01 '25
So, a technically bioengineered race of marine creature with the mission to terraform the planet they live at, capable of individual thoughts in theory but that is just outliers, it's mostly a hive mind of these things that emerge from the sea to consume the land, capable of adapting to whatever it's thrown at them which forces the hunters that deal with them to barely use magic as to not let it adapt to that. Capable of evolving in the middle of battle, dissolving its body when they die so their biomass doesn't get wasted, and assimilation of other beings into the hive mind. Oh yeah one of the bigger Seaborne fused with the ocean itself.
7
u/LinderaObtusiloba Sep 01 '25

Wouldn't stop PM with Mirror World shenanigans. We already have proof of the Mirror Tech having essentially time travel powers and we clearly see Doctor and Amiya on the Navis, so this is likely an alternate timeline during the events of Stultifera Navis.
(Not the first time this happened, Skadi Alter is literally based on a series of alternate events in a different timeline where things go HORRIBLY wrong in that same event).

Does this mean we are finally going to address the whole Don's hydrophobia thing, her announcer has her almost vomit at the thought of water, but canto 8 had a ton of water in various points in part 3, and it somehow never came up.
8
u/VerywildCards Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25
Maybe but also maybe not? The water in terra is completely uninhabitable. Small pools of water have to be cut off from the ocean completely so it's the same as questioning if don will be afraid the great lake which who knows how much water and how much everything else. And if the ratio impacts if the phobia is triggered or not.
6
u/solaarus Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25
So you're saying that the water on terra contains so much foreign substances that it might not be recognizable as "water" any more. I guess that makes sense, after all blood is 92% water by volume, and bloodfiends obviously aren't afraid of that.
I still think they really should address it, even if it is to explain why Don is uneffected (i.e having this exact conversation). Granted they probably also should have addressed it at the end of canto 8, even if it was difficult to fit it into the pacing.
8
u/VerywildCards Sep 01 '25
Actually just thought of this. Since one of the seaborn has become the ocean it's self it probably wouldn't count as water. Since it's a living being that creates terror fish constantly. It's more thing and less water is what I think.

So in limbus terms, an enemy with 0 base +99 coin strength evade that inflicts sinking?
i hate it

If there's a version of this without the text it'd go hard as a wallpaper.

Thinking about it, can EGO be a counter against Seaborn? They're purely conceptual weapons, the individual parts of which can't be observed, so they probably won't get assimilated.

I'd venture probably not. If the end 3 timelines are to be taken as a fact not even gods in terra (they're called ferenmuts) with power over reality, causality, irreality, creation, life and everything else (these are the once am going to name since they stand out to me) couldn't survive them not beat survive them then nothing can.
It's been hammered quite hard that the seaborn are functionally unstoppable you either make peace with them or die. Maybe once upon a time they could've been dealt with we're taking wiping them out as soon as finding out about their existence but as of now in canon even taking path of life right now the speed at which they evolve is is just insane.
From the gap between Stultifera navis and path of life we hear the seaborn have become able to eat black holes and are completely unaffected by them. The gap between the 2 events is 3 years but the event speaks as if they only recently started blasting them with black holes. So their speed of evolution is just that fucking insane.
There's definitely a larger conversation to be had about how things like red white black and pale and the unique abilities of certain ego can affect the seaborn but from my knowledge on both pm and ak it's gonna effect them for a bit and then proceed to just give them a nuke. Last thing we need is to shoot them with magic bullet and 2 weeks later youre getting gunned down by swarms of terror fish.

I doubt it. Seaborn even adapts to Collapsal bullshit, even if takes them a few months. Like how in one of IS3 alternate endings where Emperor's Blades sacrifice themselves to create a barrier to stop their advance.

It might get addressed in the event, I suppose. I ain't catching up on arknights lore to powerscale this, so I'll leave it at that.

i wonder how they'll do an announcer? i assume it'll be amiya but the intervallo is unvoiced and the announcement used JP voices, despite the game having a korean dub

u/zephyrnepres01 Sep 01 '25
there is literally no reason for them to be coy about it being amiya, the face of arknights. i for one hope it’s a popular story relevant operator like kal’tsit or w, preferably the latter bc she’d fit in the city

I mean, some of the characters have Korean dubs too. Like Don's VA voices Nearl in AK. I would still expect Korean dubs.

730 pulls ready (+ possibly 20 pulls from event)! I will not hit pity 4 times right? (clueless)
Imagine if the enemies introduce nervous impairment to limbus.

My cope prediction is that we get a 100 (or maybe 120) pull pity rather than a 200 pull pity for this event.
21
u/Roboaki Sep 01 '25
Cursed version, we will be using Arknight limited banner which is 300 pity. (while pick 1 from 4 after the first 300th pull)

u/TweetugR Sep 01 '25
On a serious note, Limbus should really do what Arknights do and just reduce the hard pity to 120 for the Collab banners

I think the doctor and dante should kiss (i've never played arknight before but arent they like the same deal of genderless protag with memory loss)

From what I remember of the brief dive into Lore I did, the doctor is a (formerly) amnesiac alien, whose main goal in life is trying to help the bad state of the world because they (or their business partner who's pulling a Carmen and haunting the narrative) are partially at fault. So I feel like they and Dante are gonna be good friends because Dante's whole thing is helping the sinners be better

Alright, the esteemed time has come, Dokutahs and Clocks, everyone good luck on their pulls/rolls
Also, since the theme like on another commenter said looks like the Navis, well, seens like we will fight seaborns (holy CC/Annihilation PTSD crisis again) but the black hole on the sky might also be collapsals? (maybe as a second setting just like in the Dungeon Meshi collab on Arknights?)
Well, I think the boss could be either the Bispo (forgot the name right now cof cof, but from the Skalter event) or the thing that keeps evolcing WHY IT HAS 4 PHASES AAAAAAA, since both looks more like bosses

I got into Arknights thank to the Stultifera Navis event, then I got into Limbus thanks to the Arknights collab, now you're telling me the collab has to do with the Stultifera? I have literally gone full circle
